Pics from our road trip last week

Hello fellow gardeners,

We thought we'd share some info on one of our favorite gardens and a new one we discovered after meeting a couple there a few months ago.  We've been going to Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, PA for years. It's a really large, fabulous garden with a large arboretum, outdoor gardens, ponds, many varieties of trees, water fountains - colored at night & set to music, and occasional special events with fireworks and music.  The have a cafe for lunch and a very nice restaurant for dinner but you usually need to reserve in advance for the restaurant.  It takes 2 -2 1/2 hours to get there by car and it takes several hours to see everything.  We've driven there & back in a day but it is a very long day.

The new place we discovered is called Chanticleer in Wayne, PA - about a half hour from Longwood.   It was a well kept secret to us as we've never heard of but it was really beautiful.  Lots or nice trees / landscaping, flowers and ponds.  They have bathrooms & water fountains but no food or beverage machines that I saw.  It was relatively empty when we went but their brochure says that you may have to wait to get in if parking is full on peak hours. Note - Their website says they are not open on Mon & Tues.

Both are well worth the trip but you definitely cannot cover both in one day if you want to see everything.  Their websites below and links to pictures we took follow. If you go to our pics there is a button in the bottom, middle of the page that you can use to play as a sideshow or you can scroll through each pic.  We posted mostly landscape pics so everyone can get a scale of the size of the gardens but they had many beautiful indivual flowers that you can oooh & ahhh at.
