This is a resend from last week. So far, only 15 people have paid their annual membership dues.
To all members, our group has grown dramatically in the past 16 months and we are struggling with some growing pains.
I feel very fortunate to be part of group in which fellow members open their homes and private gardens for us to enjoy. I’ve received much feedback from members who comment on how special it is to be invited to places like Janet’s magic roof garden, Gordon’s secret hideaway, or the private roof garden at the Arsenal in Central Park. Its also makes for an enriched learning experience for many people to chat and listen to experienced members share their gardening experience, and hopefully take something away which will help them with their garden (it has helped me immeasurably). And let’s not forget the special take-away garden goodies (seedlings, plants, TREE’s) that some members share at events. Thanks to the generousity of the group, I have a new, dedicated sedum planter full of different varieties I’ve received from members.
I’ve mentioned many times that my goal is to harness the “Intellectual Capital” within the group and share that with as many people who want to learn and improve their gardening knowledge and skill.
Leslie and I, and many of our hosting members go to great lengths to provide a positive experience at beautiful locations, sometimes with special speakers. As such, we have been very disappointed when people RSVP for an event and do not show up. This demonstrates a lack of courtesy and respect to the group and especially to the Hosting member who has opened up their homes to us. It also prevents other members from attending.
To address this issue, there is going to be a nominal annual fee to be a member of this group, and a small fee to RSVP and attend an event.
Annual membership fee: $6.00
Fee to attend an event: $5.00
There are no refunds for annual membership.
There are no refunds for a member who RSVP’s for an event and does not attend the event.
A refund will be given to a member who RSVP’s for an event and cancels 5 days prior to the event.
The annual fee will be waived for any member who agrees to host an event.
The attendance fee for an event will be waived for the hosting member.
Timing on member fee’s – Payment Deadlines:
Existing members who would like to stay with the group are required to pay the annual fee by Wednesday June 26th (that’s in 10 days).
All new members who sign up will be required to pay on joining the group.
Members who do not pay the annual fee by June 26th will be removed from the group. You may rejoin the group as a new member and pay the annual fee after June 26th.
I will send out a few reminders priore to June 26th.
If you want to host an event - please email me and I will note your account so you don't have to pay the annual fee. We are working on 5 meetups for the next 2 months - with more likely. Definite dates include July 9th (has not been posted yet).
Payment can be made through the following:
Online: Amazon payments
PAYPAL: This is a very safe, online payment system. You must setup a Paypal account and link to your credit card or checking account, then issue a payment to the meetup group. The Meetup.com website will direct you to Paypal and you can pay by credit card or debit card. Its not complicated
Amazon Payments: Similar to Paypal except owned by Amazon. Anyone who has an online account or purchased items on Amazon can use their payments system to issue payment to the meetup group. Similar to PayPal If you don’t have an existing Amazon account you can set one up and link to a credit card or checking account.
Check: Payment can be made by check. Make out check to Josh Buksbaum and send to:
