Why did you decide to join this book club?

I am an avid reader but looking to meet new people who share similar interests. I have been interested in banned books since since high school when I became more aware and appalled at censorship in schools. I still have a number of banned books on my must-read list.

Do you have any banned book suggestions?

Slaughterhouse-5 by Kurt Vonnegut, Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison, In Cold Blood by Truman Capote

What types of books do you usually read? (Favorite books, genres, etc.)

I read a wide variety--a fair amount of non-fiction (history, economics, philosophy), classics, environmental, and Russian literature. Favorite authors include Steinbeck, Dostoevsky, Twain, Mark Twain, Jack London, Bill Bryson. Favorite books include 1984, Brave New World, Silent Spring, To Kill a Mockingbird, Fahrenheit 451, The Jungle.

Introduction

I love to read and have always been interested in banned books. A book that strikes a nerve and inspires a vehement reaction is usually worth reading.
