I work as an education analyst focusing on data quality. I love reading, live music (all kinds), drinking wine (also all kinds), and talking. I had heart surgery in May 2013 and have since dedicated myself to doing everything that sounds interesting.
I liked the title right away. I joined Meetup specifically to find a book club, and this one certainly sounded like the best fit.
I'd be interested in re-reading some of the books I loved as a kid/teenager that are on the list and considering what makes them so "upsetting". Since some of these are shorter, maybe group a few together on one night?
In my free time, I vary between contemporary fiction and classic literature, with a few personal essay/biography selections thrown in. I knew what my career was supposed to be when I realized how often I read education policy books for fun. Finally, I do a lot of work with children, so I read a fair amount of children's books and YA to keep up with what they're doing.
I was planning to go, but have a family thing this weekend instead. I'm still interested in getting to one of these HH, though -- sounds like fun!
