We are a group of modern board gamers who meet every Monday night in Liverpool town centre to play a range of games like Puerto Rico, Battlestar Galactica, Agricola, Dominion and many of the high-rated Boardgamegeek games. The games are decided on the night, we bring a selection each week but feel free to bring your own games. If you haven't played these games before we're happy to teach you the rules, and often play new games so we'll all need to learn it.
Meetings are at The Cross Keys pub. There is free street parking from 6.00 in Bixteth street and spaces available in Old Hall street (beware the one-way system) and the nearby side streets.By train Moorfields station is 50 metres away using the Old Hall Street exit but will be closed from approx 7pm so alternatively use the Moorfields entrance for arrivals and journeys home after this time.
The pub has a variety of beers and ciders and 3 Handpumps currently. Food is available until 7pm.
Meetings are informal with no fees or membership, running from 6.00 until closing time, with short games until 7.00 to allow everyone time to get there, then we start our main games for the night. If you expect to arrive after 7.00 let us know you're coming so you don't spend 2 hours waiting for a game to finish. We're welcoming new members all the time so it's not a group restricted to a bunch of old friends, as long as you're at least 18. The play record on the strapline and the posts below gives you an idea of our recent activity. Come as often or infrequently as you wish, prior arrangements aren't required.
If you need more information join the group and we'll answer your questions (you can leave if we're not what you want), look up our BGG page on the link
We regularly chat about the next meeting in this BGG thread
We also have a very active yahoo groups site which we use to communicate with each other and arrange one-off sessions, big games, trips to conventions and all-day events, arrival times on Mondays, social events and to exchange pleasantries, but to post there you need to register first with yahoo and then our group.
There's no charge or drawbacks to this, you can leave anytime and it doesn't generate tons of marketing emails. If you expect to be coming along it's a better communication site as messages posted there are sent out as emails to the other members who take that option, easier than having to check this forum for updates.
