Montvale and Rockleigh 15 Mile Suburban Hike

Park near to the road in the lot as not to take up too much customer space.

Ever wonder what it might be like to try to walk as closely as possible to the NY/NJ state line?
Join us for this next hike in the series to cover the entire perimeter of NJ! This one takes place on the obscure NY/NJ state line. It is an odd suburban route zig zagging back and forth over the line, through developments and a little bit of bushwhacking.

Monument marking the site of Major John Andre's execution, Tappan, NY

There are plenty of interesting tidbits along the way including walking beside Lake Tappan, and a bunch of trails in Rockleigh Woods Nature Preserve where we'll begin.

The route should be about 15 miles, and if we end up having to reroute around anything, it should be minimal distance because there are plenty of roads in this part of the state.

This is the perfect time of year to run this hike because the snow cover on the ground is makes it difficult to cover a lot of mileage on regular foot trails.

The terrain will mostly be easy, so this might be a good hike for those trying to break into doing long distance day hikes.

Depending on time and interest, we will conclude the hike with dinner in Montvale or just over the border in Pearl River NY, and visit the Defiant Brewing Company here:

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
