Penn's Grove and Fort Mott Jersey Perimeter Hike (Between 15-20 miles)

Join us for this next leg of the series to hike NJ's entire perimeter! This hike will take us between Fort Mott State Park and Penns Grove NJ!

Pennsville - Riviera Drive

We'll meet at 9 am at Fort Mott State Park, then shuttle with as few cars as necessary to the north where we'll start in Penn's Grove. We'll be following closely to the waterfront in the town itself, but then we'll be following a few back roads in order to get around some of the industries along the river.

We should be able to get onto some of the Dredge Spoil areas that make up some of the parklands, as well as the cemetery area in Fort Mott State Park's north side and parts of Supawna Meadows National Wildlife Refuge.

The hike will be about 15-20 miles, although there is a possibility of a necessary additional mile if the northernmost part of the park is inaccessible. We won't be passing by many stores, so please be prepared with a lunch or snack and plenty of water.

Had a fantastic day despite the rain!!!!! The group was all up for it, so we ended up doing 22 miles and explored some extra ground! Amazing!

Note: I actually have nine signed up for this hike, not just three of us in case anyone is concerned. There are definitely reliable people who will be there.

How difficult is this hike in terms of pace and terrain?I'm a talker and hiker at the same time so I like to enjoy the sights - not rush by.

Terrain is mostly very pretty level. We won't be rushing by, but to do ul to 20 miles we do have to keep a reasonable pace. My hikes can be adventurous! We'll pass through 2 towns and stop for food and drinks too!

I have to change the date of this one to Saturday because my work schedule shifted, and I need to take more training Sunday morning :(

I think I am going to try to offer an early out in Pennsville, and possibly explore the DOD ponds at the beginning for added views. I'll go over out options when we arrive and see what suits everyone best.
