Roadside History of Illinois

Please join the Northwest Chicago Historical Society and northwest side resident Stan Banash for presentation on the Roadside History of Illinois. Stan will take us on a trip mostly along old U.S. highways, state highways and county roads that provide a glimpse into numerous historic sites as well as the history of nearly 250 significant cities, towns and villages in seven geographical regions.

This presentation will stop at all roadside historic markers and savor the historical, cultural, and natural opulence of this great state. Sip on a pint of imported German beer, while Stan “Tex” Banash takes us down a road less traveled.

There is NO CHARGE for this event, and everyone is welcome. Stan Banash’s new book, Roadside History of Illinois, will be available for purchase after the presentation.

We will meet at the Mirabell Restaurant at 7:00 PM (Cash Bar). Free parking across the street at the Kmart Parking lot, conveniently located two blocks east of the Addison Street Blue Line stop. They also have some great food, so why not come early and have a meal before the presentation. Check out their menu:

A bit more history than I had anticipated. Most roadside history covers much more obscure people, places and events. Possibly in the book, which I decided not to purchase.

The Mirabell Restaurant is normally closed on Tuesday but will be open for us. So please support them by eating and drinking at the restaurant.
