Join us for an informative program with Rich Lang, President of the Irving Park Historical Society as he guides us through a video tour through the ins and outs of the elegant history of "Old Irving". Learn about the famous genteel suburb of old that lent its name to Irving Park Boulevard filled with stately homes and a leisurely charm. The film will be followed by a discussion led by Mr. Lang of Old Irving's history and lost landmarks such as Buffalo's ice cream parlor, the Commodore Theater and many more bygone treasures.
Meet others in your local area interested in the history of Chicago's northwest side neighborhoods. We will accomplish this through discussion at meetings, public tours and events, and dissemination of historical documents and photos though publications. Additionally, we desire to collaborate with others in the community to continue to maintain and preserve the history of our collective neighborhoods. By linking the past with the present and the future, we will provide awareness and create appreciation for our place in Chicago’s and Illinois’ history.
