Children and families have a great time celebrating the spirit of drumming. Connect with the deep pulse of magical rhythms to the heartbeat of the drum. Drumming can have a profound effect on your physical and emotional wellbeing. It can boost the immune system, provide social support, brain stimulation, and heighten self awareness.
Why should I take this class?
Recent studies on biofeedback show that drumming induces brain waves that are similar to the brain waves of meditation. Drumming can help us learn about stress reduction. Drumming to the rhythm of your heartbeat is effortless and immensely pleasurable. The experience transcends all boundaries.
This event is a great opportunity for a FUN family activity. Alejandro creates a joyous and exciting rhythmic interplay between participants of all ages and levels. Drums will be provided or bring your own drum, rattle or instrument. No prior musical experience necessary! Open to all ages.

Whose the instructor?
Alejandro is a professional percussionist and community psychologist. He brings infectious collaborative energy to the workshop that motivates students. He will teach students the importance of rhythm and musicality while making it fun and exciting. His passion for humanity and goodness is awesome! He has been a musician since his youth specializing in bringing live musical elegance to special events. He has performed as a musician for various venues playing percussion such as the congas, timbales, bongos, maracas, cow bells, clave, guiro and other African & Latin percussion instruments. In his performances he has musically played son, pop, salsa, Latin jazz, guajira, rumba, flamenco, rock-n-espanol, rock, reggae, calypso, soca, merengue, mariachi, oldies, and R&B.He has led drum circles and played in restaurants, nite clubs, company parties, holiday events, open houses, anniversaries, celebrations, meetings, conferences, weddings, dinners, and much more. Alejandro Tovares has a broad background of experience that spans a career in Community Psychology, Career Management, Mental and Public Health, Community Organization, Parent Development and Music Therapy. He holds a Masters of Science degree in Community Clinical Psychology from California State University, Long Beach.He enjoys international music and travel, loves dancing and playing percussion instruments
