Update - 3-6-09 http://softduit.com/client-... Here are 4 plugins that cover many if not most of the items highlighted last night. I just updated the article (this morning after the meeting) with 2 brand spanking new plugins to specifically address the canonical requirements from the search engines.

http://softduit.com/client-... I tweeted this out under #SEMCLT but wanted to share it here also for people that weren't on twitter. This plugin will help eliminate duplicate content in WordPress resulting from Tags, Categories and more.

This stinks that I can't make our first meeting at the new location. This was even my idea for a topic!! I'll see you all next month. I will be sure to bring back some pointers from the StomperNet Live event I'll be attending in Atlanta. I hope to get to my hotel room early so that I can watch live on the ustream.

    •  I really enjoyed the new space. I look forward to experiencing it from the audience next month.
    •  I am a novice in this area and I can say I got a lot out of the meeting. YOu choose really good speakers, Magie and Les. Maggie was a bit nervous but still got her info across. Of course, Les was ideal for the job and covered a lot of info that will help me. Thank you for all the work you put into the program and the great accomodations. Dave Brusso
    •  I enjoyed the networking time before the presentation. The presentation was very informative and useful, however the speakers needed to be a little more aware of time. I ended up leaving a little early, before the second speaker began her topic discussion. In the future, perhaps having a "time keeper" alert the speaker to how much time he/she has left would be good. Another suggestion would be to start the program a little earlier.
    •  Great event and very well organized. :)
    •  Great information!
    •  The venue was fantastic, and it really facilitated some good networking before the event. Kudos on that. For the presentations themselves, I had to leave a bit early so I didn't see all of it - but I think we certainly ran way over the timeline. I think on weekday evenings its key to keep the topics of discussion pretty tightly focused otherwise it can get into an "everything we've ever learned about SEO" type session and that's just too much. Also felt like it was maybe a bit basic and SEO 101 in nature, I would probably try and keep that in the quarterly meetups and keep the association focused on the more advanced discussion. Its tough to manage time on these things, but maybe give a speaker like 20 or 30 minutes and then have questions afterwards? On-the-go questions, while having some benefits, are really tough for a group this size, as the presentation can really get off the timeline. In any event, it was a nice time and has great potential.
    •  Great Info on SEO, but I think we ran out of time before we got to the E-Commerce topic. What sites to you recommend I visit to learn more about this topic?
    •  This meetup spoke very little to E-Commerce and nothing to Merchant Accounts -- which were the announced topics. Much of what was discussed was very technical and I personally am new enough to SEO that much of it went over my head. That said, the main speaker was obviously very knowledgable and I did learn a few useful things. I do plan to return to the next meeting in order to see how it goes.
    •  Bummed we didn't get to the eCommerce info but Les & Maggie had lots of good info to share, so it was OK in the end. Like the new location - much more comfortable for the number of people attending. The official SEMCLT name badges are a nice touch!
    •  The tips from Flying Bridge were great for SEM! I learned alot and was explained well.
    •  Great presentation on SMX!
