OSIOT Internet of Things Hackathon #2

We will host our second all-day Internet of Things hackathon on Saturday, September 7th at Hacker Dojo in Mountain View. The goal of OSIOT hackathons is to develop an interoperable ecosystem of connected sensors and objects. Please visit osiot.org for more details as we get closer to the day.

At this hachathon, we will continue to work on the core Smart Object API and IoT Tolkit software, the Semantic Repository of Things, and some initial use cases including a connected laundromat, connected aquaponics system, and a connected weather sensor. All are welcome to join and learn and participate. If you have a project you would like to include, please contact us through osiot.org

It was a bit of a drive for me, but I learned that there is some meaningful work going on here. Excellent event was worth it. Thanks to everyone for an open sharing experience.

We even hacked on stuff and got a Sensor gateway on a Raspberry Pi, not running the OSIOT gateway to create custom objects on an OSIOT gateway and then send data to the OSIOT gateway which then published it to Xively

Pretty good. Three people joined my project and one even had an identical setup. We made progress.

This will be my first. I'll bring a sandwich and a cup of coffee. The big question is: Did anyone make / take notes on what happened during the first hackathon so we can read over them in continuation with subsequent work? I wouldn't want to be like my ex-coworkers at Ceiba-Geigy Pharmaceuticals, Sandoz Pharmaceutical, M.I.T. Lincoln Labs and Dow Chemical who vigorously made you keep up to date lab manuals, locked them in a library and then no body read them forthwith.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
