Silk Hope Ruritans Present

35th Annual Old Fashioned Farmers Day Event

Daniels Event with the Chatham Socials begins as follows:

8:00am- We are going to meet at McDonald's next to the Lowes Hardware on 64 and[masked] in Pittsboro to eat reasonable breakfast and to get to know the other. I have invited three gentlemen to join me on this event and I hope that any of you who would like to join us can make it.

8:30am- We will get in our cars, car poole and drive to Silk Hope NC and we all wait at the gate to open. Or you can drive to Silk Hope directly and meet us when the gates open. See there website for directions.

The Silk Hope Ruritan Club was chartered in 1954. They are members of the Ruritan National organization. They are a group of area citizens who come together to improve our community and to build a better America through Fellowship, Goodwill, and Community Service. They are home to the Old Fashioned Farmers Days celebration, held each year over the Labor Day weekend.

They sponsor Silk Hope Boy Scout Troop 911 (for 50+ years and counting!), as well as Silk Hope Cub Scout Pack 911 and the Silk Hope Girl Scouts. We award numerous Scholarships each year to area High School Seniors, and during the holidays we take fruit baskets to the elderly. We also address many local environmental and social concerns.

The Club took the lead in financing, planning, and building the Silk Hope Fire Station and Community Building, which was completed in the late 1960s.

The Group has also created the Silk Hope Farm Heritage Center, which contains a large array of antique Steam Powered Equipment, along with an extensive collection of old Farm Buildings and equipment. These items are on display, many actually operating, during our annual Old Fashioned Farmers Days celebration and at other events throughout the year.

The Silk Hope Ruritan Club is currently building a new Community Building to replace the one recently lost when a new Fire House was built. The new Community Building will be larger and much better-designed for its purpose: to bring the Community together by providing a place for large-group meetings and other functions which currently have no suitable location to get together.

9:00am Farm Heritage gates open to the public and those who like to be free to leave our group can or you can hang out with us. Group photo will be taken at this event.
