St. Patrick's Day Parade

Meet up at Starbuck's at 10:30 AM. This will give those who want to, the opportunity to grab some photos of the parade forming up on the Laurier Bridge before the official start at 11:00 AM. It will also give you an opportunity to meet other members of our Meetup before everyone goes their separate ways. After this, everyone is free to make there way anywhere along the parade route where you think you may have the best vantage point!

Please feel free to come say hello and introduce yourself :-) Some of you I know but many of you I don't! I will be at the Starbuck's until 10:50 to greet people at which time I will most likely make my way up to the Wellington and Bank area. If we have a small group, I will track attendance on site. If it's a large group, please upload at least one photo after the event so that I can ensure you receive credit for attending :-) I will have my iPhone with me so if you have a change of plans, please update your RSVP prior to the start up time. That way we won't be waiting for people unnecessarily. I don't want to abandon anyone o.O

Parking: There is free underground parking on the weekend at the World Exchange Plaza which is only a few blocks away at 111 Albert St. Not sure about road closures though so just a heads up!

31st St. Patrick’s Parade

Due to the redevelopment of Lansdowne Park, we have had to change the Parade route and the venue for the Parade Party.

Parade: While the Parade will no longer be on Bank St., it will continue to form up on the Laurier Avenue Bridge, between 8:00 – 11:00 AM.

The Parade will leave the intersection of Laurier Avenue West and Elgin St at 11:00 AM, and proceed west on Laurier Avenue West, turn right on Bank St., then left on Wellington St., and continue west on Wellington St. to an area near the Library and Archives Canada building, arriving there at approximately 12:00 – 12:30.

(If you are familiar with this year’s “Help Santa Toy Parade”, you’ll note that we are using the same route – but in reverse.)

At this point, the Parade will turn left, at the Garden of the Provinces, and proceed southwest onto (old) Wellington St, to an area bounded by Albert, Brickhill, and Commissioner Sts, to disassemble.

End time is approximate. Keep your fingers crossed for nice weather! Look forward to seeing you all :-)

Thanks everyone, I had a great time yesterday at the meetup! Thanks to Bianca for giving me one of her warmers for my hands, which were freezing. I took lots of pics but haven't decided yet which ones to share as I don't like all of them plus I want to use some of the close-ups for the virtual meetup about emotions. Anyway, I'll choose some and share them later today. Have a wonderful Sunday!

That was cool! Really cool. I mean at the end my fingers didn't want to press the shutter kind of cool. :) Anyway, thanks and cudos to Bianca for running this meetup!

My camera turned into a block of ice 10 minutes in an I had to thaw it for a while so didn't get full coverage. Live and learn.

I lasted up to the last 15 minutes of the parade, and then I scadoodled to Timmies to warm up.

Great turnout, and what fun... lots of frozen fingers and cold children. When will people learn, just because the sun is shining it's cold out side... ;)

I also saw some of these warmers at Walmart in South Keys - I forgot the name or brand, but it was under the hunting section. Very useful indeed!

Shawn I had these but no peel and stick. The only part of me that was frozen was my fingers. Think this would have been a better solution than me taking my gloves off so I could warm them up with the hot pocket thingy. Will look for this one you mention next time! Thanks :-)

Sorry, it was a tough battle between me and my toddlers. They won, we stayed home! Now, i got green eggs and green beer for lunch.

    March 16, 2013

    • Shawn Michael M.

your toddlers will love the green beer...

The toddlers nap after lunch. My 8 year old was disappointed that he did not meet the photographers with "giant camera". I promise him that next time, I will hire a babysitter to stay with the toddlers, so he can come with me and meet the pros!

Just got home so sorry for the late reply. Thanks to everyone that came out and braved the cold! Still feel bad for all those guys in kilts OMG. A few of us made a b-line to Timmy's as soon as the parade was over to thaw out. It was so great seeing some familiar faces and having the opportunity to meet some of you for the first time! Thanks so much for coming out everyone! :-) Look forward to seeing you at future events.

    March 15, 2013

    • Bianca N.

From what I've heard, I believe a few will be going to both Brian!

My kids will come with me, so I MAY or MAY NOT be going to Starbucks. However, I will be around the area, wearing St. Patty's Theme "my kids in green too". I think I will make some funny green hats. OK, snap photos of my funny hat if you can!

And if anyone says “Top o' the mornin' to ya”, don't be expecting “And the rest of the day to youself.” because it's not Irish, it's from New Zealand.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
