Originally called the PA Appalachian Trail 2014 Project, this group was born out of the desire to hike the PA portion of the Appalachian Trail, in its entirety, over a series of day hikes. This was completed in October of 2014. Now this group has grown to tackle other trails in the Pennsylvania and neighboring regions as projects. Trails will be picked one at a time and hiked in their entirety over a series of day hikes. This is a goal driven group :-). We like projects and enjoy savoring them and completing them. We are currently hiking the Mason Dixon Trail. The Conestoga Trail and the Horseshoe Trail were completed previously as well. Others will follow.
Hikes will occur on Sundays, as shuttle hikes, between parking areas of a given trail. Each hike will be between 12-16 miles. We will hike at a minimum pace of 2.5 mph, and at times up to 3 mph. Participants need to be comfortable hiking at this pace and distance and have substantial hiking experience. Please be sure to bring layers of clothing, have sturdy hiking shoes, and 2-3 liters of water. We will stop on the trail for a light lunch so do bring some food or a snack. Hiking poles are often a good idea as well. Sorry- no dogs please.
Note: By joining this group and participating in these hikes, you understand that you are hiking at your own risk and agree to not hold the organizer responsible for any injuries or accidents that may occur. Thank you.
