This is our regular weekly meeting.  Feel free to bring a piece of writing to share with the group to get critical feedback to help improve your writing.  If you wish, you can participate and offer feedback to others without bringing in anything of your own.  Doors open at 5:00 pm and the meeting officially commences at 5:30 pm.

Sorry guys, I'm just not feeling well. But there are a number of contests closing this week I wanted you to know about. Check Digital Book World for the digital book awards, Shelf Unbound for its writing competition, Winning Writers for their list of the best free contests, along with some others, And, of course, Writer's Digest, which is having its Popular Fiction Awards, Poetry Awards and Self-Published e-book awards, oh, and the Short, Short Story contest. One more place to look is Poets & Writers for their list of upcoming contests. All of these sources, I believe, are trustworthy. There are a lot of scams out there, so always be cautious of paid contests. Sorry again, I was looking forward to sharing the next installment of my book and hearing all of your pieces. Someone will have to share the map with me.

I attend school and would be a late arrival on Thursdays, is this a problem for the group? What is the duration of the Thursday meetings?

Hi Aran. Happy to see you. I'm sure everyone will be delighted to have you join us on Thursday. Don't worry if you don't have anything yet, you can still contribute. Also, we read all sorts of things, fiction, essays, poetry. So bring whatever you might have, or not, whatever makes you comfortable. Looking forward to meeting you.

Hi, I'm a recent college grad from Chicago. I'm thinking of attending the meeting. I don't have anything to present yet. I look forward to meeting everyone.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
