I believe I was the person who recommended "Bring Up The Bodies" by Hilary Mantel so I feel I should report that I read it ... or tried to read it ... and couldn't get through it in four or five attempts. If I'm the only one who suggested it be put on the list, please remove it as I wouldn't want to subject the group to something I couldn't, try as I might, get through.
I'm in another local meetup book club and they're reading Fitzgerald and Hemingway for the next two meetups so I'm hoping our group selects more current books. As wonderful as these classics are, what can we find to say about them which hasn't been said a hundred times in high school English class. Just my opinion. :-)
Do you want us to bring our suggestions with us to the next meetup or would you like us to post them on this discussion board? Looking forward to seeing everyone soon.
