8 Mile Canoe/Kayak paddle at Kickapoo State Park

Lets get together and go Kayaking or Canoeing! Kickapoo State Park is on the Vermillion River and is located on the North side of I-74 about 7 miles west of Danville, Il. Get off the interestate at the Oakwood Exit #206, follow the signs North one mile and East two miles into the park. Kickapoo Landing offers boat rentals and shuttling. We will meet at the boat rental in the Park to rent boats and be shuttled.

Rates are:

8 Mile Run $32 Canoe

$26 Single Kayak

$15 to shuttle (if you bring your own boat)

Please see the Kickapoo State Park Website or www.kickapoolanding.com if you have additional questions.

After our fun we can go as a group for something to eat or head home.

**Due to the fact that I need to reserve boats a week in advance - please let me know which type boat you will be renting.

We had a fantastic time with everyone on this trip. Really look forward to Turkey Run and hope to see everyone there. I have photos and video to format and upload, but it might take a little time. Things are getting increasingly busy at home. I'll share as soon as I can. :)

Hi Everyone, I just called in our reservations. At this time, due to water levels they are doing a 7 mile trip on the Salt Fork Main Channel. He said it is running 2 feet deep. We will arrive at Kickapoo Landing at 9 am and get situated, rent boats, etc. The shuttle will leave at 10 am and will pick us up at 2:30 and return us to Kickapoo Landing. The cost is $34.00 for a double canoe, $28 for a Kayak and shuttling if you have your own boat is 1/2 the price. I think we will have alot of fun!

can I bring my dog to this event?

    July 30, 2013

    • Marie

Hi Tawnya, according to the DNR website pets are simply required to be on a leash at all times. An 8 mile paddle will take a few hours, plus we will be getting shuttled (probably in buses) Normally on hikes, as long as pets are allowed they are welcome. But your pet would have to ride on a strange bus, sit in a boat for a few hours etc. I am going to leave it to your discretion as to whether to bring him - but he might be better brought on a hike (as long as the park allows for that) rather then a paddle.

Anybody planning to do any road cycling with me after kayaking/canoeing? Alot of good roads to ride out there. I did it last fall.
