The big one - Save the Date - Rocky Mountain National Park - Longs Peak

This will be a very involved trip so plan to attend one or all of the pre-trip meetings. We will plan to be gone for 8 days from Saturday the 20th of July to Sunday the 28th of July. We will hike in and around the area of Longs Peak and will make a summit run near the end of the week. Longs Peak is one of Colorado's 14ers and is a popular hiking destination. A full tirp itinerary will be available soon.

This was an incredibly fun trip. Thanks too Jim for organizing it and being such a great guide! How are we going to top this next year?

I found a pair of dark sunglasses in my stuff while unpacking. Is anyone missing a pair?

Great trip, not much more to say. Had a great time with everyone. Even without campfires, we managed to entertain ourselves. I hope to never run into another moose on the trail in the middle of the night again. I hope to never get between a hungry bear and a garbage can and I hope I get more swimmers at Chasm Lake next time (you two know who you are). Thanks to everyone for making it a great time.

The girls and I plan to fly into Longmont, CO around noon on Saturday, rent a car, and meet the group at the campground that afternoon.

I've looked at the weather forecast out in Estes Park. Bring your rain gear. What would our trip be without a bit of rain, eh?

Due to a recent surgery, my Long's Peak experience will be a bit different. I'm planning to hire a wrangler and ride horseback out to the boulder field and set up camp to meet up with the group climbing. Wake up and be 'with' those that are climbing through various technology devices. I've contacted the management of Aspen Lodge and am working on the specific details which will be posted as soon as I receive them.

It's been advised I do not ride horseback so I will be enjoying the beautiful vistas from the campsite.

I would so love to go, a friend of mine works for the NPS at ROMO and it has been my intention to summit some of the 14ers, notably Blanca Peak and Mt Elbert someday---unfortunately, I'm on the eve of getting a new job. Maybe next time.

I've been reading accounts of other's journey to the summit and one common thread among them is Always make time for coffee with a 3 AM start.

I'm also thinking of a supply of dark choc covered coffee beans.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
