July Monthly Meeting

The agenda is open for suggestions. I saw at least one volunteer to bring their printer and do a demo. I can bring my Printrbot Jr as well.

Is anyone keeping any kind of minutes? Just curious....

Not at this point. At a high level they would be:
      - Dave welcomed the group, thanked NextFab for hosting and gave the floor to Chris from NextFab
      - Chris talked about NextFab, his role and their 3d printers for about 30 minutes. He also entertained questions about the consumer market.
      - John gave a demo of his Makerbot, talked about the workflow and some tips and tricks.
      - Dave and John talked a bit about experiences making and maintaining your own printer
      - Dave shared som sample prints and asked people to spot the 1 Statasys print amongst the Printrbot ones
      - The meeting closed with general discussion

    Final notes:
    - Street parking is available. It's mostly north of NextFab, specifically around Carpenter and 21st streets. Parking in front and along Washington Ave is a bit limited.
    - NextFab Studio's number is[masked] if you get lost
    - Check in at the front desk. I don't yet know if we'll be in the conference room or the common area.
    - The cafe closes at 5, so grab dinner first.

I may miss the meeting due to work commitments. I'll try to get back in time.

Looks like I may just make it. If I do I'll bring my Thing-o-matic.

Would love to come, but have a business function tomorrow. I have never been busier in my life. This technology is really hot.

I may be a little late due to some last minute business, assuming my client entered the date correctly and didn't mean august 23rd instead...

But I definitely still plan to come, and probably on time as well, though you never know with traffic.

NextFab has graciously agreed to host us in July and Our own Chris, who works there, will give a tour of their awesome facility!

Why not reach out to nextfab.com and see if they'll host? I'm sure they'd be happy to have some more digital mfg enthusiasts through the doors as they are likely to become members anyways after seeing their awesome facilities.

I have been working this angle and hope we can work that out. I highly recommend them and just joined down there myself.

OK, folks, it's time to get serious about putting our July event together. I'm proposing Tuesday, July 23. We've grown to the size that we're never going to please everyone with the dates, but if there are any significant conflicts for a large number of people, we can adjust.

I also want to firm up the agenda. I'm thinking about the following:
    - A time slot for those who can bring their own printer along. Each set up and everyone can walk around and see the different makes/models and ask questions.
    - Somebody to present on designing your own models. I don't see this as specific to any single piece of software, but a general intro.
    - A panel discussion on building your own printer (kits and reprap)
    - Bring your best print "show and tell". Bring something you've printed that you're proud of and talk about challenges with it, etc.

I know that'd be super far for some people, though I live in Northeast Phila and I'd still be down I guess.

I know ;) The meet up is called "Philadelphia" - just a thought if you get in a pinch.

If the dates work for me, I'll bring my Thing-o-matic.
