Makeup and Shoot

Makeup and Shoot

A new series of events for the PGPG will highlight the skills of our area makeup artists. In the months ahead, area MUA’s will be asked to lead an event where THEY will be crafting the looks needed for their portfolios. There have been some very exceptional makeup artists at our events in the past, but they have often been asked to meet a pre-assigned theme. For this series of events, the MUA will be the creative director, tweaking the models as they deem fit to grow the portfolios of all involved. Kicking off the first of this series will be Mad Makeup and Hair, with Diane Tatar (http://www.modelmayhem.com/2485258, https://www.facebook.com/MadMakeupAndHair?ref=tn_tnmn) in the lead. Diane has been a staple contributor to past events, and now she will be picking and choosing which looks to be photographed. Diane will have a hair stylist working with her to help craft a unique look for each model.

Returning to the ever comfortable Seraphim Imaging Studios in Pottstown, a select group of models will be on hand to be the ‘canvases for Diane’s makeup skills. Models will be scheduled in time slots, and photographers will have two stations at once to use, rotating through the stations until everyone has had a chance to work with each model. Refreshments will be provided, as well as a few give away items for the attending photographers. Any props you wish to bring are fine.

It was a great way to get back into things. Fantastic models, make up, photographers, and studio; the reason for doing it all was there in force. Many thanks to Diane, Joe, Jennie, and everyone else for their participation. It is great to see the arts in action with such a wonderful group. We worked 20 people into the event, and it was truly a great day.

Very productive session. Well organized, well equipped studio, well attended by models, and professionally run. Hats off to Diane for a stunning makeup performance - very original, very fast, and plenty of variety. I will go again if offered.

All slots filled, as there is one photog to add yet. If this spot is open at 10:30am, I'll repost to advise.

    May 26, 2013

  • AGH

Each photog who signs up will get a Focal Press book....I'm loading the car now, as I'll be on shift till late before heading to the event. The books are next to the axe and fake blood on the front passenger seat :O)

    1 · May 25, 2013

  • AGH

The cut off for signing up is midnight...because this studio is smaller, we are not able to take last minute walk ins. If extra people show up, we would have to turn them away due to just not having enough room.

    May 25, 2013

  • AGH

A few model changes to list, but all is well. Will update in a bit.....

    May 24, 2013

    • Alice G.

can you update the model list and elaborate on what exactly will be happening tomorrow...

      May 25, 2013

    • AGH

Eight models on tap, pending last minute cancellations or UFO abductions. Two sets in operation, with photographers rotating through. Diane is designating the looks. Models have arrival times, to avoid studio congestion (small studio, but very clean and comfy).

Now bringing an axe, a wedding gown, and some fake blood.....

    1 · May 16, 2013

    • Randy S.

By ax, you mean the chopping kind or a guitar? Maybe go for the Alice Cooper look?

      May 22, 2013

    • AGH

      I'll have a telecaster....and a metal axe......

This sounds like an awesome way to jumpstart the group gatherings again. I just wish it didn't fall right between my daughter's wedding and a getaway time with my sisters. :/

Carolyn is a great person, and we have given away a few copies of her book at past events. I highly encourage this book and her blog to be checked. She is one of the leading experts on photography law, and is a very good photographer herself.

    May 15, 2013

  • AGH

For those curious, please visit the terms page in this site (see the "About Us" section). We don't try to control the images. Per the precedence of photography law since the first cases hitting the courts, 'ye who clicks, owns'. Copyrights and usage rights are two distinctly different things (for some good cringing, read the terms of service for Facebook), so events are structured for the PGPG/TriState/CentralPA groups to respect photographic copyright law and still accommodate those involved. Any questions regarding these topics, please msg me directly.

Albert, I didn't receive my photo book that was included in the payment for the Artisan Spotlight: Tundella & Co. last year. If you have run out of copies please refund that portion of the cost that I paid for the shoot.

    Thank you

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
