Photato Salad

Greetings to you all! Because the summer months keep roasting us in the studio, we will be holding our August event outside at Ridley Creek State Park on August 29th, from 11am till 5pm. Ridley Creek State Park has many different places to wander around, including an elegant mansion and an extensive stable area. We will commandeer a batch of picnic tables for the group that are in eyesight of the mansion, and will be encouraging you all to bring a dish of your choosing. One of us will have their grill apron on with dogs/burgers in the flames, and we will have plenty of water available. We will be grilling the basic burgers and hot dogs, and with each participant bringing something (food wise) unique, we hope to make this an informal yet productive get together. Models will be encouraged to bring outfits that they would like to have in their portfolio that is conducive to the surrounding scenery. The following link (http://www.dcnr.state...) to the park will help you all to prepare for what you want to bring with outfits, car pooling, etc (i.e. bring any outfit you want, with the only caveat being no nudity, as it is just common sense to not expose bodies with the public in a setting like that). We will book as many models as possible, so there will be no limit on the number of photographers that plan on attending. However, PLEASE do not show up unannounced, as we need to account for everyone regardless of the facility. If you are feeling covert in any way, just email Joe or Albert with your pending visit info, and we can accommodate you accordingly. ALL participants need to sign in and be accounted for, both for safety and creative reasons. All models attend for free, and do not need to RSVP in the site system. However, ALL PHOTOGRAPHERS need to RSVP in the site system, so that we know who to expect. Make up services will be provided by the great Heather H (http://www.modelmayhe.... Other services will be listed as they are scheduled. Please bring a simple dish of your choosing. We will be providing various foods and supplies, but bring something of your choosing that is typical of the picnic/reunion setting. While there are no scheduled events at the mansion at the time of this posting, please know that we may have some roaming usage of that facility that may be changed at the last minute, depending on the scheduling of the park reservation system. The grounds are very scenic, and there is a stable nearby that is open to the public for a portion of our stay there (many horses to photograph). If you want to call ahead to see what their schedule is like, that is quite wise, as the stable operates on it's own schedule. No permit is needed for our picnic-style meet up, but please exercise the usual courtesies of mitigating any trash or disturbances we could create. We will have several tables saved for the group, and with the amount of scenery around the area, this should be a good way to get some variety and out-of-studio images for all of your portfolios, along with some good food and catching up. And to any members that have been on the fence with a meet up, PLEASE don't hesitate to join us. We would love to see some new faces at this event, and with a picnic-style setting, this is a perfect way of expanding the network without the hassles of a hot studio and limited space. Update: we will have a portable changing station for the models, so for those checking this site, please make a note of this. Thank you! :o) In summary:

Joe, Al, Kirk, Kara, & Heather run a top notch meetup. Experienced models with beauty, talent, grace and spirit were in top form. Fellow photogs who are talented and social freely shared. This was a great time, thanks to everyone for the chats, the laughs, the pics, the sharing, and the good time.

We had over 60+ people in attendance, and it was great to see them all there. With new and familiar faces on hand, this was yet another experience for me to watch so many talented people in action. Joe is always a pillar of support for everything, Heather did wonderful work, Kirk painted some incredible visuals, and the entire sense of camaraderie with the whole group was just spectacular. We are extremely fortunate to have such excellent members in the group, and seeing them in action makes it all worth it. Thank you to everyone for bringing so much food, helping to photograph so many models, helping with cleaning up, and for making the entire day a great day to be doing what we do.

Great shoot on a nearly perfect day. This is the biggest shoot I ever attended with over 60 models and photographers but it worked out great because their was so much area to shoot in and most of it was in the shade . Great job by Joe Burke and other organizers for finding this location and getting food and drinks ready.

Outstanding meetup. Excellent photographers, models and organizers. Well attended with more diversity of subject than I have seen in a long time. This was one of the best shoot ups I have been to.

I had missed a few meetups due to work and it was so much fun to be back with old friends and to meet new ones. This meetup at Ridley Creek State Park was so great and I didn't want it to end, neither did my son, who attended his first meetup and looks forward to the next. Thank you Joe and Albert for a wonderful time.

Quick fyi, you can't drive on Sycamore Mills Rd nor on Forge Rd; don't factor them in as part of your route. You can chance it, but you'll probably get sent to Gitmo by the park police. Or worse yet, chased by a bunch of bicyclist in spandex.

The location is very confusing, the site says to enter 351 Gradyville Rd in the GPS, but you have given the address of 1023 Sycamore Rd. Where am I going? Helppppppppppp
