Studio Time - Open House v1.0

The November event for the PGPG will be a hodgepodge, a mishmash, a potpourri if you will of things for everyone. While we have many things on the burners simmering for you to enjoy, it's all about keeping the momentum for events. Canceling anything just sucks, as no one progresses with a cancellation. So...the November event for the PGPG will be an open house studio experience for those that want to shoot something indoors. The H & H Studio will be open for anyone that wants to shoot some projects inside. We have 2 -3 shooting areas available for use at one time, so there is plenty of room for people to come in and get some projects done. If any models need photos, they should contact some photographers to make the most of the indoor time. And, should any photographers need to shoot a few things inside, they are welcome to use any models that sign up or that they contact. independently. Pocket Wizard's will be available in limited doses for the Canon and Nikon shooters (these are SO sweet!). Please note, this studio IS clean, has heat, has a changing room for models, and a clean restroom.

Also on hand at this event will be Diane Donato-Tatar, a recent member to the group and one who is a licensed aesthetician, cosmetologist, and MUA. Diane will be available to work on any models that need to have these types of services.

As an added perk, all participants will be eligible for a holiday gift pack or addendum to their photography library. All RSVP participants will be eligible to win a batch of photography books from Focal Press, one of our group sponsors. We will have a quick drawing at the end of the event in order to pick the winning participant, and all RSVP participants are eligible to win (total value of the prize is over $200).

A small number of people with a big number of results. It was great to watch Peggy, Jim, and Frank at work, and both Lacie and Diane were just wonderful as our photographic subjects. We worked with some lighting, some gadgets, and even gave away the batch of books from Focal Press. It was a pleasure welcoming Peggy and Diane to the group, and it's always great to see the familiar faces. This was a very enjoyable day.

Great meetup! Having a smaller than usual group allowed photographers good opportunity to work with the models and the lighting setups and Pocket Wizards. Explanation of manual flash was provided and was ...illuminating. The tempo was relaxed but constructively purposeful. It appeared that the experience was worthwhile and enjoyable for both models and shooters.

The venue is clean and well lit with lots of free parking. Diane from MadMakeup And Hair performed wonderful work with the makeup (www.madmakeupand hair).

I think either the need for studio time is low, or, models are just not interested in optimizing the many talents available with the group. We have a stellar MUA on hand that day, and the studio itself is excellent. Images from Sunday could get them onto some major websites. This is one of those opportunities where the models that want to proactively expand their portfolio should consider taking up this option to spruce up their port. Or, photogs could snag a few models to maybe add to theirs.
