Some reflections on the nature of courage.
This months Science cafe talk is by Dr. Akhtar, a Professor of Human Behavior and Psychiatry at Jefferson Medical College, and Training and Supervising Analyst at the Psychoanalytic Center. Dr Akhtar is a brilliant speaker and a published poet along with his scientific publications and books. I have heard rave reviews about him from other Jeffersonian's.
This Science Cafe will be at a new venue which is larger than the previous (Valanni's) so hoping the experience will be better. Please come out to support the cafe Scientifique (one of just 3 Science Cafe's in Philadelphia).
The topics of Dr. Akhtar’s numerous publications include a wide range of topics, including forgiveness, apology and regret, love, generosity, terrorism, severe personality disorders, contemporary perspectives on psychoanalytic technique, supervision and mentorship, the impact of our relationships with our pets and other animals, the impact of siblings and other non-parental relatives on development and personality, our attachment to and desire for physical objects, film, immigration, culture, and language.
Talk starts at 6:30, but lets start meeting after 6 to get seats.

Please note it's a cash bar, so they may not accept cards. Any donations to Cafe Scientifque would be much appreciated. Unlike the other 2 Science Cafe's, they are not backed by a big university like UPenn!
