Can the person who made the Mac and cheez please share the delicious recipe?!

    May 24

    • Keith M.

I don't think the person who made the Mac and cheez is a member of this meetup. You might try asking on the Facebook event.

      May 25

    • Gina R.

You're right, Keith. Robyn isn't in this group. Also, she's a chef (look up Black Orchid Foods on Facebook) who sells her food at events, so she can't share some of her recipes, this one included. However, she told me that the main ingredients are nutritional yeast, arrowroot, tahini and lemon juice, if ya want to mess around.

My first event was really fun. Went to meet Sharon Race whom I thought I knew . Turned out this Sharon Race was the cousin of the one I thought it was. However it was a pleasure to meet her. Also wanted to see Adrienne but she was ill. :(. I wish more people would post photos of themselves so I know exactly who I meet. Not sure if I met the flower, rooster or one of the gray silhouettes :).

Mimi, sorry that we did not get to meet last night. By the time I started walking around & talking to people which was late I guess that you were gone. Rooster AKA Larry is my husband & I'm the hen AKA Zoray AKA flower :). I'll look forward to meeting you & others in the future events. Have a wonderful holiday weekend.

So so sorry to have missed this. I was so looking forward to seeing my vegan buddies and, of course, the food. Gina and Keith are THE BEST and I know it was wonderful. I was sick, late coming back from NY and had no transportation blah blah blah...I hope to see or meet some of you at the Veg Summerfest in July.

Hats off to Gina and Keith for organizing such an fun evening! The decor was lovely; the music was enjoyable on its own but perfect to eat and chat to; the atmosphere was very welcoming to new participants; and the food, as always, was bountiful and delicious. The Routunda is a wonderful venue for an event like this - thanks for making it available.

On a separate note, I made the baked pears and was asked for the recipe. I used bosc pears - in this case 4 good sized pears. I cut them in 8ths and removed the stem and seeds. I baked them in a 350 oven for about 45 minutes. That's the entire recipe. But you certainly could add cinnamon, nutmeg, etc. When they're done, they look like they're starting to caramelize. Cooked, they will keep in the refrigerator for about 10 days, and I haven't tried it, but I think they would freeze well.

I also agree that the Rotunda make a great venue for a potluck & many other events. Therefore thanking Gina & Keith for the event & keeping the nice music down as it was just perfect & we all could comfortably converse with each other & enjoy the company without having to scream & guessing what others were saying to us.Thanks for the baked pears recipe. It was really good.

Major apologies. I was house sitting, left my cell charger at home, and was left with no online access all weekend. When I wasn't feeling well yesterday, I had no way of changing my RSVP or getting in touch. Big regrets to Gina, the other organizers, and all the folks I was hoping to see there. Sounds like it was a rousing success. I have a knack for missing all the best ones!

folks, if you can, please bring a little piece of paper or card that bears the ingredients in your dish. also, feel free to bring your own reusable plate, cup, napkins, and utensils, though we do not have a large sink in which to wash them. we will provide disposable stuff but certainly don't mind if you bring your own reusable items.

I'm excited to see that a lot of folks are coming. If you're on Facebook and want to RSVP there too, please do so at https://www.facebook.com/events/277952195698874. i suggest doing so because you can connect with new people there who are not in this group. The more the merrier!

i highly recommend inviting your friends and friends of friends, especially if they're open to eating this kind of food and maybe even taking on a plant-based diet. there's a lot of space for folks at the venue.

I been trying to make one of these! What shall I bring, any suggestions?

    1 · March 19, 2014

    • Gina R.

Anything vegan goes but maybe we will set up a google doc or other kind of list so that people can check to see what others are bringing in order to avoid having too much of one kind of food.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
