Great event for a cause I believe in - spent time with wonderful people. Plus I won a couple of raffle prizes and now have a sheep tattoo on my hand to remember the walk (at least for a few days until it wears off). Thank you to the organizers for setting this up as a group event. I was told we will be getting water bottles from Farm Sanctuary for being the group that raised the most money.

The walk was scenic and the sun popped out, the weather was really nice. Best of all it was for a cause I believe in so much! thank you for organizing this meetup!!!

Okay, gang, since we are a fluid bunch this time-- there are people who have signed up here, and there are others on the registration page that I never heard of (but all are welcome!), and not everyone may want to or can come for breakfast before the walk-- the only place I can think of close to the start of the walk and which can accommodate us and takes reservations... is Mi Lah. Mi Lah has a fabulous vegan breakfast/brunch menu. I will have us seated upstairs, where there is plenty of room. Since the walk is at noon, let us meet for breakfast/brunch at 10:00am when the restaurant opens, and hopefully we will make it to the start point in plenty of time!

Let me know here if you are attending. Thanks!

10:00am seems just way too early for a weekend breakfast. Let's push it back to 10:30, especially since we don't have to be at the Seiss Center exactly at noon anyway.

If you can't make it at 10:30 but still want to come for breakfast a bit later, I think it should work, so long as we give ourselves about 10 minutes of walking time to get to 21st and Sansom from 16th and Spruce.

See you at the Seiss Community Center! I'm not able to make the breakfast at Mi Lah.

Jenna, you're awesome-- thanks for helping organize this event! I will be sending out an email to the RSVP list about where we will meet before the event, and an option breakfast before the walk, so look out for that...will have to be later this week b/c I'm very busy at work.

We have already exceeded the $500 group goal and it's only August - this is great! I have cross-posted this event and others have already signed up on MeetUp so hopefully they will register soon and we will raise even more. Are we able to increase the group goal?

    August 5, 2012

  • Jenna

I put the team goal for $500... I put my personal goal at $100 and at 100 you get a T shirt there are also prizes for teams. Andrea I am not sure about dogs but you can check on the website for more details. The registration fee is $15. This is so exciting!

I'm excited about this meetup. I've been working on getting in shape so I can do fundraiser & awareness walks/runs. I like the idea of getting dressed up that Jenna posted. Quick ? Would it be ok for us to bring our dogs on the walk? Also is there a registration fee for the walk?

Sounds good! The couple times we've done quizzo meetups, our team name was Veggie mighties. :) But PVSC is probably a better way to go for this event.

The Farm Sanctuary, a wonderful organization dedicated to rescue, shelter and education about farm animals in the farm industry is doing a Walk for Animals in Philadelphia. It is only 3.5 mi walk, and we can enter as a team. There will be vegan food, music the whole thing.

How fun would it be to raise money as a team, Philadelphia Vegetarian Social Club Represents!! We could even have MORE fun with it (since its really near halloween) and dress up as our favorite animal! OMG I am getting so exc
