Dinner at Blackbird Pizzeria

This is an all vegan and kosher Pizza place near old city. I'd think it would be a great casual dinner meetup for the group! Here is the menu if people are interested: http://www.blackbirdpizzeria.com/menu.html

Folks - Stopped by Blackbird today for a quick lunch and I was delighted to learn they have just launched a new menu. There are two additional, new pizzas and a couple of new sandwiches. Didn't try any because I just wanted a quick slice, but they look good!

may be we need to go there again!

Food was very good. I would definitely go back there since I have been looking for some tasty alternatives to dairy based cheese.

It was a fun event-- lively, friendly conversations; good food (Blackbird made sure to have several choices for pizza-by-the-slice as I requested them to); and just a fun evening with good, intelligent folks.

    Hey Linda -
You're good. The event is still on.

    Hi Himanshu -

You sent an email about tonight, but I can't read my home emails at work. I am hoping the event is still on as I am heading down now.

I just noticed the time is 6:00 - I have to work until 6 so probably wouldn't be able to get there until about 6:30 - should I still try to make it or is that too late?

    October 5, 2012

    • Himanshu

Tina, I'm sure people will be there at least for an hour and often our events don't start right on time-- people trickle in 10 and 15 minutes later. So I'd say come if you're interested, but people might also leave since it's a nice day and galleries are open late in Old City.

      Ok great thanks!

I just realized today is also Old City First Friday, so I will be heading over to the galleries after our dinner meetup... anyone interested is more than welcome to join me!

Should we bring cash for this event? Or do we just pay individually at the counter?

    October 5, 2012

    • Himanshu

You pay at the counter, and cash is definitely a good thing to have; not sure they accept credit card, but I could be wrong. I'm about to go there and talk to them about the event.

Has anyone been here before and could recommend what to get? It all looks so good, I don't to try and get it all in on my first visit!

Amanda, we went there as a group, and I've gone there many times with friends or by myself. Everything is indeed good. But as Linda said, the pizza by the slice vary-- they don't have all the pies available. And I doubt they'll make too much of an extra effort for our group, just from previous observation. But I do plan on letting them know that we plan to be there tomorrow with 15-20 people all at once-- that will overwhelm the place (it is tiny).

      October 4, 2012

  • Linda O.

Amanda - They vary the pies they cut up for slices so we probably won't know what's available until we get there. You might want to let them know a large group is coming so they will be ready for us. It is a fairly small place.

Seems like it makes the most sense to set a date and then whoever can attend can attend. It is hard to set a date after people RSVP and it's unlikely everyone who has will want or be able to come. We could always do this place again in the near future.

    • Himanshu

That's usually how it works, except in cases like this one where it is a suggested meetup without a suggested date. Meetups get announced if someone suggests and two people 2 others RSVP, even if a date/time isn't fixed yet. I usually do all the legwork up front-- then whoever can make it, comes. But you're right-- Blackbird is easy to schedule another time again... they're popular, cheap, and very good. :)

Amanda, thanks for taking the lead in setting the date and suggesting this meetup! Looks like not everyone that was interested earlier can make it on the new date but we're looking at another solid participation count.

    How about Wednesday, the 26th?

    September 22, 2012

    • Amanda M

it does sound like next week would work better though, so maybe we should do the 5th?

      September 22, 2012

    • Linda O.

      I prefer Friday the 5th

      September 23, 2012

  • Stephanie

anybody for 10/3 its a wednesday?

    September 22, 2012

  • Jill

I have something to do on the 26th and I am not sure how late it will go. Any day during the week after the 26th I am pretty much free (including the 5th if you choose that day).

    September 22, 2012

  • Sara P.

I can go on October 5. That sounds perfect. We love Blackbird!

    September 22, 2012

  • Linda O.

How about Wednesday 10/3 or Friday 10/5? The 26th is Yom Kippur - the holiest day on the Jewish calendar. Any possibility we could meet at 6 or 6:30?

    September 22, 2012

  • Himanshu

Great suggestion, Amanda! We've gone there as a group, but it's been a while. We can get a 10% discount-- I got us that last time when we visited. So I will look into it. Any date preferences?

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
