Shake the Chill Off w.Vegan/Veget.Brunch &Novelty Hot Choco@ Latin Eatery Sazon.

SAZON RESTAURANT AND CAFE: Healthy, Inexpensive, Home-style, Authentic Venezuelan Cuisine.
Vegetarian and Gluten-Free Friendly Menu.
****Please note that Sazon is a CASH ONLY establishment.

I believe Robert mentioned a brunch price per person of $17 per person, plus tax and tip. I will double check with him and update.

American born Robert met his amor Judith while in her native country Venezuela. They moved up to Philly, invested lots of hard work and love in creating Pennsylvania's first and only traditional Venezuelan restaurant, Sazon, and now we're lucky enough to feast on the scrumptious results. Robert and Judith are welcoming hosts.
Sleep in on Saturday, then come on over to Sazon, located in the Northern Liberties section of Philly. There's plenty of FREE street parking and easy access by public transportation. We will indulge in the vegan and vegetarian delights of their regular Saturday traditional and international brunch, in addition to some extra dishes they will conjure up just for our group, such as perhaps vegan paella and vegetarian lasagna- yum! What's more, gluten-free and other allergy-sensitive dishes are available. So do it your way! Robert and Judith are very accommodating in this regard. To top that off, Sazon offers its own unique and tantalizing homemade specialty hot chocolates to keep us warm and cozy on a winter's day. And if you still have room for sweets (and who doesn't?), check out Robert's creative hand-made chocolate truffles available for ordering ala carte.

Please note that Sazon is BYOB, so feel free to bring your own bloody marys, mamosas, wine (maybe try a new Venezuelan variety?). And don't forget CASH to cover the bill.

Hope you'll join us at what promises to be a tasty and relaxing meal.

Adrienne is stuck in Puerto Rico and could not come back yesterday as her original plans demanded; she is sick and still in PR. So, although I had other things to do, I will come to this event to make sure those who attend do so enjoyably. Please bring cash to pay for your bill, as mentioned by Adrienne above. THanks, and see you all in a short time!

Himanshu, thanks so much for posting this message to the group for me. It was a great help, as I didn't have internet access. Also, thanks so much for attending the event, even though you had other commitments. I am so sorry that you had to change your plans due to my unforeseen absence. You are such a superlative host and group organizer. I am truly grateful, and apologize once again! I am disappointed to see that attendance was so low after I notified Robert and Judith that 15 were attending. I don't claim to have a perfect record myself from the distant past, which I truly regret, but I really wish that members would take the trouble of updating their RSVPs so that the proprietors can be notified. Oh, well, we'll hope for the best for the future. I know life happens while people are making other plans, but I will include myself in the hope that we'll all be more responsible in the future. Have a wonderful New Year, and many, many thanks again.

The ones who attended had a great time; the ones who didn't missed out!

I am going to bow out of this because I have something come up that I seriously need to attend to. So I apologize. I will email the person on Waiting List who will take my spot so they are aware that they can now go and hopefully can still go.

Hi, folks. An update after checking with the propietor, Robert: It is a buffet brunch, and ala carte will not be available in this time frame. It is $17 pp, cash only, plus tax and tip. THIS INCLUDES COFFEE OR TEA. Lots of enticing vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free selections. Robert forwarded me the menu, so I will post in next message. Thanks, Sharon, for comment! I think it will be a super yummy, unique meal, and Robert and Judith are a joy to meet. Hope this is helpful, and feel free to call me at[masked] or email me at [masked] with any questions, as my dumb cell won't allow me to respond to comments via Meetup.

Glad this is getting a nice response. Thanks for coming on board! I will check with Himanshu, but I think there is a capacity for more than 15, so put yourselves on the waitlist if it happens.

I looked at their website and they have a brunch buffet on the weekend, so I think that's what we'll be having?.. I sounds delicious if they have some vegan choices!!

There are a few details I must check with Robert, as I'm not certain of the particulars. First, I must see if the brunch is a buffet or a prix fixe. Second, I need to confirm if the price is $17 per person plus tax and tip (not including the hot chocolate and truffles). I'll keep your posted.
