Come find out answers to important questions such as,

“What kind of releases should be used and when?”
“Are there benefits for storyboarding and what happens if I can’t draw?”
“What organizational tools and resources can help in pre-production?”

Although you DO NOT need to be an IFP Member to attend any Filmmaker Fusion events, if you are an IFP Member, bring your IFP Membership card for a chance to win a special gift card!

Wonderfully informative and great networking! Also, I think I know why I never win the lottery now - all my luck is used up at these Film Fusions. I seem to often win things! :)

It's great that we have more local people working on feature films so that we can learn from each other.

I'm currently in post production on two features and pre-production on a series of short films, if I get all my work done for the day...I'll be there, even though I do not know exactly where there is...but I have my handy dandy gps to keep me on the straight and narrow track to get there...thanks again for the invite & the group

Where is the best place to learn hands-on directing? I'll do anything related for free so long as I gain experience

    September 16, 2013

    • Joe G.

You can learn hands-on directing by being a productive part of a film set. Depending on your experience level, you may be a P.A. or a 2nd AD or a 2nd AC or some similar role that puts you on the set, exercising your skills while observing the inner workings. Filmmaker Fusion is a good place to start. Make sure you include your above question in the intros at the beginning of the session.

I hope no one mind but I am bringing my wife who is a makeup artist and us both are trying to get our names out there but more importantly we are trying to meet new like minded people.

Hi, I'm new to the group. I'm a designer of cinema gear based in Mesa. I have a new handheld digitally stabilized DSLR rig for Indie run & gun type shooting that we'd love to show to local film makers. Would this be something we can bring to a meetup and show to some local film makers? The system is shown here:

Thanks Diane, I wasn't sure exactly what this group was about but have been canvasing local social media in hopes of connecting with people who would find my systems of benefit to their film making endeavors.

I totally enjoyed the last meeting: Location! Location! Location! I never knew what went into being a Location Scout! An interesting and vital job. Amanda Mahan - UPM, Editor, David Zickl – Location Manager, Jim Aiken - Set Designer, Kelly Sallaway - Producer,
Phil Bradstock – City of Phoenix Film Office. All opened up with stories and important information. Those 2 hours went fast. I networked and made new friends, and said "Howdy" to ones I met last time.
I'm looking forward to the next meeting “The Magic Behind the Magic…Pre-Production”, Sept. 18th, 2013.
