The Speakers BIO

Marguerita Nogueras-Vidal is also known as Kukuya within the Taino community in Jayuya, Puerto Rico. She grew up in New York City and relocated back to her homeland in her early years. Kukuya received her Masters of Arts in Human Resources and Development from New School of Social Arts in New York. She is an elder and respected ceremonial leader, a traditional potter, a vocational artist, teacher, author of several traditional books and a director. Kukuya is a gifted artist having the ability to channel visions into creativity through music, song, paintings, ceramics and storytelling. She leads a powerful presence as a panelist restoring traditional art and promoting activism around traditional issues.
