|To be fair...I havent yet attended a meeting, but David...we met a while ago if you remember me. |
Couldnt find anything on Monitor Street...on google...is it a specific metaphysical program or something?
actually completely lost in the convo?
If anyone wants to fill me in that would be greatly appreciated.
What peeked my interest is a wealth manifestation group as I am looking to build massive wealth to pour into a new kind of education that teaches kids self-mastery through meditation, yoga, taichi, martial arts, combined with creative expression through the arts, theater, dance, visual art, music, and then also entrepreneurship, and world spirituality. This way kids can graduate being masters of yoga or tai chi, feel empowered to be themselves, and be able to manifest their dreams, and
The public education system costs 160 billion a year...and its falling apart...so we need a large amount of money to do this nation wide and one day globally....can you imagine how different the world would be if all kids received this kind of education?
Not sure if any of you have the same vision about what true education could become, but I would love to know what your up to David...and what this discussion about money and a program is all about.
If anyone does share the same vision for education...maybe we can form an intention group to attract the resources, people, and money to manifest this?
I apologize for being so out of the loop...
I wish you all well

Before calling it a night, I reviewed things, thinking I may have been unkind and unloving. I
think you were spot on according to my perspective and that my response was ok considering how many times I received and read the emails. You really identified things well in a specific, observing way. And the thing that really gets me is the lack of self-awareness regarding their approach. It reminds me of being patient with an elderly person who is out of their element making naïve suggestions. Oh well. All the best. Kathy

I sent a response that sounded eerily like yours. Every time I see Monitor Street, I know that it is a financial commitment. Whether the organizers make a profit or not is not the issue for me. The intent is what bothers me.
It seems like things are being thrown against the wall to see what sticks; I.e.; what will be a moneymaker. What bait will catch the fish? I don't want to be the fish! I have no incentive to be the fish. There is plenty of metaphysical food out there!
I think it attracts a good group of people and I appreciate the efforts and energy of pulling like-minded people together. However, I won't attend these meetings because of the infomercial
vibe (send money now). I am sensitive to be being marketed to and when the marketing precedes the message, I get turned off.
The shotgun approach to topic material makes me wonder about expertise or lack thereof--not a problem specifically, but when cash is involved...well, suffice to say that I am not inclined to partake. And these are the reasons why.
Other resources are more readily
It’s timely that I received this email and opened it and for the first time received a handful of replies. Honestly, I would just shake my head and move on when I
opened the messages. Too many people trying to make a living off the Work. Last week I relied to a personal and that is why I am responding now. I didn’t use names but one of my examples was the Monitor thing….Everytime I saw anything that interested me there was the clause…By donation, $20 suggested. Then you have to tack on $10 for gas. Do I want to spend thirty buck on a chance that I will find it worthwhile or would I rather spend it at Barnes and Nobles on one of the books I’d like. I’ve always chosen the books. I moved from Miami to Virginia Beach because I was spoken to while visiting at the A.R.E. over the holidays one year. And I was employed at Uof M so I had something substantial that I left. Duriing my 7 years there we had probably a half dozen or so visiting speakers. Then I moved back to Pgh 15 years ago now….and the personal ad was a woman who was moving to Pgh from Cali and she wanted to make a base of friends.
After our second correspondence and I learned that she was an artist and was intending to sell her wares at a metaphysical bookstore…I outlined by background and experience with the metaphysical community. I did have one great experience with a group but their “guru” came to town twice a year and when I reached the point of him coming with his homemade cassettes I just shook my head. The flyer he put out was nothing, said nothing about music; yet , the Friday speech was supposed to be on “Music from the Spheres”. Catchy enough…His whole getup was built around the Alice Bailey books. I read my first when living with two PHD’s in Miami. And I stayed in VB to take a course whose text was Alice Bailey. Funny, the first night the woman who was a doctor said that she was only teaching the course because they couldn’t find anyone…Imagine….and I moved from a city and a good job based on the word Initiation.
Anyway, the woman from Cali has changed her mind and in my last reply I reminded her that my karma, personality and astrology are not the same as hers. I miss the substantial metaphysical community in Virginia Beach…I outgrew it as a single woman approaching 40. Most were retiring there. Perhaps, I will meet some of you one day here in the Burgh. Glad to see there were a handful of others giving feedback. I passed on the Meeting Startup as a good resource as I have found some other groups that worked for me. Kathy
Hi all,I'd like to pose some questions. Feel free to answer or trash this email. I am sending this email because there has been a precipitous drop off in participation in the weekly meditation/discussion group. In 2012 I had the second of two near death experiences. I received healing for the incident in 2012 and am very grateful for that. I continue to learn and
grow from this experience as I go deeper with it. So far it has led directly to a change in my relationship with money and I am currently on track to create success in a way that makes perfect sense and that I would never have anticipated. I continue to heal and my near death experience continues to yield benefits as it continues to open to various practices.(First question) I am very happy to share these insights and welcome input that others bring so that we may all create together. Toward that end there are several possibilities for groups and classes. If you have an idea for a class or group, please let me know. I have hosted other groups in the past and would be happy to discuss doing so again. The possibilities include (in no particular order):- meditation/discussion- drumming circle/shamanic exploration- nonviolent communication practice group- Huna (and other) technique practice group- wealth creation practice group- relationship practice group- creative exploration practice group- classes in these things(Second question) What day/evening would be good for you?(Third question) In particular I am looking at the next two Thursdays as possibilities for kicking off a project that
involves creative exploration. If you are interested in writing fiction or nonfiction, photography, meeting people and creating something together, etc., please check this out. If you are interested but can't make it during either night, please contact me. Thanks for reading this far.-David Park[address removed]
