QS PGH Show&Tell #14

Overview

This is a meetup of people in Pittsburgh who are interested in topics related to the Quantified Self. Topics include, but not limited to:

Personal experience with your own data gathering, self-tracking, or analysis.

Research related to technologies for self-tracking, visualizations of personal data, user studies of personal informatics tools, etc.

Demonstration of tools that you've created or use.

Tutorials on how to do self-tracking.

Format

The meetup is split into two sessions:

In the first session, we'll have time for people to meet, network, enjoy the snacks, and do casual hands-on demos. People can show their projects, try cool technologies, and chat.

In the second session, starting around 6:25 pm, we have presentations.

Here is the tentative schedule.

Speaker App / Device / Topic

Dan   Lumosity & MCT Oil

Brian   Dual N-back Training (or other topic)

Let us know if you want to present!

Dinner After

After the meetup, those who are interested in dinner will walk to Craig St. to find a place to eat. This has become a tradition of this meetup, and is good time to continue conversations.

Great meeting. We had three great presentations, Joe presented about HybridTraining, Brian about Dual N-back training, and Dan (me) presented about Lumosity & nootropics (MCT Oil & True Focus). Great discussion.

I just got a TrueSense unit. $1400. I nearly fell over at the price, until I realized it was in New Taiwan dollars, and each dollar is worth about $0.03 U.S. Dollars. So it was under 50 dollars, including shipping. All I've had time to do is charge it and download its software, but nothing else. If I am able to attend (my confirmation is tentative, as I might have a conflict which, alas, I will have to resolve by not coming to QS), I will try to remember to bring it.
