Hope you're plowing through Fortress at an enjoyable pace - looking forward to the discussion later this month! Just a reminder that we have a book swap on Monday. PLEASE COME, even if you're not laden with used paperbacks! I'm more than happy to give a book away without an exchange, and I know there are others who feel the same.
Anyone with a camera, please feel free to bring that as well... :)
Lastly, Fortress has me thinking about superheroes, which has me thinking about chest logos, which has me thinking about how sad I am that I still need to search for book cover jpgs and clip art to use on meetup announcements. So here we go, our first-ever LOGO DESIGN CONTEST! Rules:
1) Your logo cannot be profane, offensive, unrelated to our mission statement, plagiarized, or garish. 2) You can send in as many designs as you'd like, but please don't send me the same logo with 50 different color gradient variations. 3) Your logo must be a scalable image. 4) Your logo must be of a reasonable file size... please no 10MB images!
The best of the best will be used as our official QL insignia. Give me 5 minutes of your time and create a masterpiece for the group!
The Queens Literati is a safe haven for avid readers who find themselves searching for a new book or an intelligent literary society. Maybe you're tired of joining group after group, reading the same kinds of uninspired young adult novels that leave you feeling... well, childish. Maybe you're looking for the opportunity to read a challenging book and follow it up with an insightful discussion. Maybe you're a recent Queens transplant looking to make new friends in the area. Maybe the sudden appearance of overstocked chick lit sections in your local bookstore has got you grinding your teeth at night. Maybe you just need a good excuse to get a little tipsy and eat great carb-loaded food with fun people (we're not here to judge). Whatever your reason, we're here for you.
Every month we meet to discuss a critically lauded book, eat some fabulous Queens fare, and get to know one another. Books are chosen by popular vote, and member suggestions are ALWAYS welcome.
