The Quirky Girls Group is for professional ladies between 25-35 years old who live in the western suburbs (Aurora, Naperville, Lombard, Downers Grove, Westmont, Wheaton, Bolingbrook, Oakbrook, Willowbrook, Woodridge, Darien, Plainfield, etc.) who are quirky…(obviously!), unique, adventurous, energetic, multicultural, personable, and oh-so fashionable!!
We (Gina & Sarra!), the organizers of this group, have been close friends for years (a really long time, indeed) and we both thought-hey, what not begin doing some fun activities with a fun group of girls?! So here we are!
When we’re not being random, our emphasis and focus revolves around cultivating new friendships, embracing exposure to diversity, empowering lovely women (such as ourselves), and developing bonds for lifelong sisterhood! We wish to create a vibrant, warm, and inviting community of young women where love, respect, integrity and encouragement can foster…So…only super friendly chicks that are open to a variety of new things, who are fun, and who enjoy worldly experiences can join : )
Things on the docket for the upcoming year:
Around the area to do’s: Cooking classes (bring your retro aprons, ladies!), dance classes (jazz, hip hop, ballet, aerobics to keep everyone on their toes!), shopping outings (during peak sales times, preferably), tea parties (w/tea sandwiches, scones…and, of course, tea!), wine tastings (cheers!), beauty tip tutorials (every day and evening looks), spa days (mani/pedi/oooooh, massages), volunteer work (food pantries, donations), etc.
Seasonal festivities: Beach bumming (w/lots of sunblock because we burn easily), bonfires (never done one but it sounds like fun), barbecues (not your standard Q, girls), corn mazes/pumpkin patch visits (in lieu of haunted houses because those are too scary), holiday ornament exchanges (cute ones…none of that white elephant stuff), cookie bake offs (we make a mean chocolate chip!), etc.
In house get-togethers: Craft nights (collecting suggestions/ideas for this asap!), girls movie nights (tubs of buttered popcorn and icecream are a given), home happy hours (it’s like happy hour…but at home), just-because costume parties (well, why wouldn’t we include these?!)!
Out on the town: Attending a variety of fancy events (to be determined), downtown dancing (out causing a ruckus), cruise dinners (I’m on a boat!), theater shows (Broadway in Chicago), food tours (not entirely sure what this involves, but you had me at food…), trying out new restaurants (always up for suggestions), museums (Art Institute, Shedd Aquarium, Planetarium), traveling (ladies road trip!) etc.
*Ahem Ahem* Attention! These are Our Rules:
If you join… you will participate!!! Please, as a courtesy, be mindful and avoid no-showing/canceling/ 24-48 hours prior to an event. In fact, while we do recognize life happens, we also would prefer everyone to be lady-like and be polite. Tremendous energy goes towards organizing the activities we do! Not looking for numbers, but quality! It's rather simple, actually: if you RSVP… be there! ... If you're not, then you suck! Do note: We do actually keep track of attendance. ***no-shows/cancellations within 24-48 hours prior to an event that requires RSVP for accurate headcount or not participating in any events per quarter (yeah, don't be that creepy girl who looks at all our events and doesn't come to anything) means you will be *removed* from our group. The Quirky Girls Group is an active group for girls who participate....(notice nowhere in the description did we mention that we're wishy-washy or what have you...because no sir/madame, we are most definitely not!!!)
Suggest events if you find something cool… everyone can participate in planning! If you assist in planning an event, figure out how we can all find each other and meet-up… that’s important! Have fun… no dead people! Be friendly… No really… say hello to the new people… this is already a little like blind girlfriend dating… lol!
So…If inspiring positivity, supporting one another, and most importantly, engaging in the enjoyment of all things that life has to offer sounds appealing…then contact us! No seriously, message us immediately!
(Also, peruse our collection of photographs taken at our past meet ups! This may give you an idea of what fun times are being had!)
