Hey guys, hope everyone had a good weekend. I know a lot of you were out at Beerfest and the meet up expo, so I hope that was awesome for you. Now that the weather is better, I wanted to let everyone know about some fun outdoor activities that you can do in the area!
But first a friendly reminder: Tonight is our 3rd Monday's comedy show at Downtown sports bar! If you haven't signed up yet, it should be a pretty fun show! We have a comedian coming in all the way from Charlotte and he is a guest MC from time to time at the comedy zone. It's a free show and for a good cause PLUS we already have 28 people signed up for the show! If you haven't been out to one yet, you don't know what you're missing. They also give out some free appetizers to our group. So you should sign up as soon as possible The meet and greet starts earlier and the comedy show starts at 8!
We also have our trivia and karaoke starting on Wed at 7:00 PM. We lost for the first time last week, so come on out and help make our group the champs again!
Now onto some fun outdoor activities for when the weather gets just a tad warmer. People often ask why I don't plan more of these events as meetups, the truth is, logistically planning outdoor events that are far away can be pretty hard. So allow me to send you some links, you can always make your own events with people you meet at the group.
Tubing: For those of you who have ever gone "tubing" it's this fun little adventure where you rent an inner tube and float down a lazy river. The best place I've found (as far as not too far away, but a good time) is http://www.danburygeneralstore.net/ The day costs you all of about 15-25 dollars after food and gas. They'll drive you up the river and drop you off, you get to float down from 2-4 hours. They even have tubes with coolers if you want to fill them with beer or other snacks for the float down.
Zoo:If you haven't checked out the zoo yet, it makes for a fun day. http://www.nczoo.org/ It can get a little pricey if you eat the food there, so I recommend packing some of your own, but make a day out of it and I promise you'll have some fun. If you're more into big cats, in pittsboro they have a large cat rescue where you can go on tiger tours which are a lot of fun http://www.carolinatigerrescue.org/tours/tours.asp
Maybe you want to cool off a little bit. There is an ice skating rink in Cary to help you beat the heat http://www.icehousecary.com/
Of course wrightsville beach is only a couple of hours away, but there is also Topsail beach (same distance) and then the outer banks (far superior to the other beaches, but an extra hour of travel time). The great thing about Topsail and Wrightsville is that you can easily do a day trip to the beach.
If you want the beach experience but don't want to drive that far, check out http://www.tuckerslake.com/ At only 45 minutes away from Raleigh, you can wakeboard, sun tan, or play on the water trampoline. They also have kayaks for rental there.
