An evening with Hugh Pym - Chief Economics Correspondent @ The BBC

Next Lansdowne Debate!

Please come as my guests! Other Lansdowne regulars will also be in attendance, they are a diverse, fun and interesting crowd, and we're all looking forward to you joining us too, and bringing along your views! (or just watching and taking it all if you prefer!)

We are very honoured to have Hugh Pym coming to join on us  on Thursday 28th November.

Hugh is the Chief Economics Correspondent at the BBC has enjoyed a gold plated journalistic career over the last few decades, which can be summarised very well by our friends at Wikipedia:

I will be talking to Hugh Pym for about 50 minutes. Asking him about his career, and maybe his current interpretation of the UK Economic & Political landscape.

If you have any questions you would like me to put to Hugh Pym, please let me know and I'll try to include this in the evening.

Please make sure you RSVP as this should prove rather popular, and the Sun room only has limited spaces.

The dress code at the club is smart casual (no jeans, trainers, men have to wear a jacket...). Just come in and say you're with Marcus Warry, and they will direct you to the Sun Room for the debate! See you there!

P.S. Debates are always held on the last thursday of every month. Sign up as many as you like!

Very poor delivery of questions and management of questions from the audience.

Hi Carmel, sorry you didn't enjoy yourself. I'd be most grateful if you'd have a moment to expand please, perhaps in a private message? As I'm always very keen to take feedback, and to learn. Marcus

Hugh Pym was excellent. Urbane, articulate, friendly and informative. Thanks to the thoughtful questions ably posed by Marcus, the conversation was wide ranging and relevant. Hugh dealt with a good variety of questions from the floor in a good natured and helpful manner. One questioner did get a little tongue tied and not everybody was able to ask a question but, given the constraints of time, it was a first class evening.

I recommend a debate on the use of drones. Frightening topic to look into, I recently wrote this post after watching the 'Drone Wars' documentary:
