Relationships are the most exciting, infuriating, wondrous, frustrating, loving, annoying parts of our lives! They just happen to also provide us with the greatest possibilities for where our lives can go. I created this group because talking to people about relationships is my passion. It's why I became a coach.
When we talk about the relationships in our lives, whether they be our marriages, work relationships, relationship to money or success or failure, this is where we paint a picture of who we are in the world, where we belong and what we see as possible or not possible. There is no place that you can help someone more than if you help them with their relationships. There's no place we can learn more than in our relationships. And that is what we are going to do. Help each other with our relationships and take on personal growth. We'll support each other, offer our own wisdom and often just listen, because our relationships are also where we hide our concerns, fears and secrets. Just offering someone the chance to be heard can be the greatest gift.
We will be discussing our own lives. This is not about TV relationships, celebrities or other distant projections. It's about what we know best, what we are going through and have been through ourselves.
The conversations we have will be mostly about our personal growth. Until we grow, our results in life will be predictable and fall into patterns. When we take on growth, the optics of our life changes and the way we operate changes, too. We will find ourselves in different situations with new powers. I love helping people create these changes in life and as a coach with a private practice for the last ten years, I've done it with hundreds of people. I will be listening to where everyone is coming from, will offer my reflection of where people are coming from and questions designed to open up our minds to new possibilities. This group has been meeting since 2011. It's been very effective in helping people grow.
Another wish is for this group to be populated by equal parts men and women. YourTango, the leading relationship advice site on the net estimates that 88% of their readership is women. Men are in relationships, too and the lack of conversation in the male community on the relationships of their lives gives us great material to work with. If you are a man reading this PLEASE join, because what you have to say and learn about relationships makes a difference for everyone, especially the women in the group.
Obviously, we'll need to observe strict confidentiality, so we can trust each other with such a sensitive part of our lives.
Thanks for your interest. I am also available for one-on-one, couple/partnership or small group work in my private practice. This meetup group is meant as a community resource and a chance to do what I love with as many people as want to join the conversation and to do it in my backyard. I myself am a resident of Chevy Chase, DC.
