Greetings, Sister-Friend!

The Renaissance Women of Color (RWOC) represents a renewal, revival and rebirth of the spirit of womanhood, and the power of femininity among women of color. We are a 'social sisterhood' of Black/African-American, Hispanic, Latina, Asian, and all women of color who enjoy living life, and have PURPOSE and PASSION in addition to the roles that define us (wife, mother, CEO, PhD, etc.). Our first and most important role is that of a WOMAN, which we appreciate and celebrate through this group.

We are in our  mature 20's, 30's, 40's, and youthful 50's; married, dating or single; mothers or not; college-educated, self-educated, or just plain smart; career-minded professionals, business-minded entrepreneurs or neither. We are from all walks of life. What's uniquely special about the RWOC is the synergy and active participation of all age groups. It's a beautiful thing!
   

A good fit for this group is a woman who is positive, mature, secure and young at heart, with passions and interests in addition to her man, children or career. If you're a woman of substance with a desire to make new friends to explore and experience the best the DMV area has to offer, then please join us!  

But before you do, please take a moment to READ THE GROUP GUIDELINES, which further explain who we are and how we operate. Just click on the *Pages* link above, and read the guidelines before you decide to join. You'll see that we're more about quality of members, and less about quantity.

The MEMBERSHIP DUES page is also helpful to understand the purpose and benefits of your membership dues, which is $6.00 every six months. Once your membership is approved, you'll have a 30-day trial period to experience the group, decide if it's for you, and pay your dues to remain a member. You can look back at our past events to get a feel for the value the group offers.

Once you're a member, please be sure to read your WELCOME LETTER, and RSVP for the next meetup you'd like to attend. Experience has shown that members who jump right in from the start get the most out of the group. We're having loads of fun almost every weekend. You'll find lots of exciting events to choose from on our group calendar, and you'll find our meetups to be enriching as well as entertaining.

My personal passions and interests that I like to enjoy with my Sister-Friends include:

• Cooking, dining at great restaurants, and hosting brunch or dinner parties .
• Physical fitness, especially exercising outdoors in beautiful weather. I love walking, jogging, and want to do a 10K run this year.
• Traveling to new countries, weekend getaways, taking short road trips, and just exploring the best of the DMV area. I enjoy 5-star luxury and budget travel alike.
• Salsa dancing, bellydancing or any other kind of dancing.
• Shopping…shopping and more shopping !
• Pampering myself at the spa.
• Reading and discussing excellent books, especially for self-development and personal growth.
• Visiting art galleries, museums, and places of historical and cultural significance.
• Performing arts such as symphony, ballet, opera, theater, and R&B/Soul and Jazz concerts.
• Playing tennis and golf; hiking, skating, swimming, and horseback riding.
• I’d like to learn organic gardening, and experience sailing, skiing, and fishing!
• I like to splurge, and treat myself to luxuries that I can afford, but I find the greatest joy in simple pleasures, which are usually free and inexpensive.
• I also enjoy sharing my commitment to charitable service with my Sister-Friends.
