I was told by two different club members that they did not get this email. I am re-sending it for them.
Why an Expo? It's certainly not for the money, although you could sell a robot or two at the event. It's probably not for the fame, yet there can be 15 minutes here and there for those who push forward hard enough. It's certainly not because any of you have nothing better to do because I know most of you have demanding jobs and families to take care of. So why do we have a robot expo? Why go through all the stress and struggle each year???
Why? This is why:
It's an important and huge responsibility we've taken on with this expo. By holding this expo we are reaching out into the community to spark an interest in robotics and the science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) that go along with it. We are making a difference. We are building a better society. We are showing children in our own community, our own sons and daughters, nieces and nephews, and friends and neighbors, that there is a WONDERFUL and EXCITING world beyond a life with drugs and gangs.
Each one of you who participates, either by helping on the committee or exhibiting something at the expo is making a difference in the world around us. We are touching and inspiring the lives of those that need it most.
Again, I thank you all for helping to make a better society.
