Re: [robotrobot] Member or non-Member?

Right, but, there is still a fee for the organizer which none of the members pay as far as I'm aware.

I agree, having more members means there's a better chance of people actually coming to a meeting.  What I'm objecting to is the other gentleman's aggressive and impolite attitude towards this question.   I mean, the question was posed to the group for opinions, Thomas never said that he's going to do it just that some members seemed unhappy about there being many members but few who actually attend meetings.   The idea was proposed to see if other people feel the same way.   If most other members disagree with the sentiment then he probably won't impose a fee.  No need to be nasty about it.

I'm glad that Thomas asked our opinion, I appreciate his democratic approach.

According to MeetUps HELP, the fee is a per month fee and is not tied to the number of users.

My opinion, we should keep everyone on the list and do our best to promote the group and encourage more members to attend the meetings. Personally, I am very busy and find it hard to attend the meetings, but I do enjoy the group and look forward to the meetings I can attend.

I don't think it's a "great" idea but, being that Thomas pays to host the Meet-up he does have the right to encourage people to be active in the group if they're going to be a member.   Having a Meet-up site is not necessarily free and it can be some work to up keep as well as organize and host meetings.   It can be frustrating to put time and energy into something that other people take for granted.   It might be appreciated if people who claim to be members were to step up and act as such.   Put your money where your mouth is.

Can somebody that thinks this is a great idea speak up?

Sounds like the group has spoken.

Care to sum it up for us Thomas?

Can a non-member make a motion to dismiss the idea with extreme prejudice?
