March Book: Twelve Years a Slave by Solomon Northrup

We will meet to discuss the March book selection, Twelve Years a Slave (which also won Best Picture at the 2014 Academy Awards)! It is a memoire-style book about the 1841 kidnapping of the Author (Northrup), a free citizen of New York, who was enslaved and later rescued from a cotton plantation in Louisiana. I hope to see you there for an engaging discussion!

I'm still waiting to get plowed out, so I don't think I'll be able to make it. I'm very sad because I loved this book and will miss talking with all of you about it.

I also loved this book--we'll have to talk about it for a few minutes at the next meeting.

Sure! That would be great! We can dedicate a few minutes in the beginning of the April meeting to Twelve Years a Slave since several of us were snowed in for our March meeting.

So sorry for the last minute notice but I will not be able to go today. I was really looking forward to discussing the book, too, because I had so much to say about it! -- not that I'm opinionated or anything!

I've always told my groups that I may withdraw from activities due to weather. I think this is one of those days. Everyone please be safe and thanks for voting in such a good book.
