Hi all, thank you for the enjoyable evening! I wanted to post a couple of things I mentioned. First, meet Italo Cavino (http://www.theparisreview.org/interviews/2027/the-art-of-fiction-no-130-italo-calvino and http://www.theguardian.com/books/2009/jun/13/complete-cosmicomics-italo-calvino-review). Then, if you have a free minute check out Allie Bosch's web blog Hyperbole and a Half (http://hyperboleandahalf.blogspot.com) my favorite story is called, "the god of cake"

Hilarious blog - I love the illustrations! A creative and demented mind at work :)

I also meant to let folks know that I updated the group's book list, which is under the discussion tab and in the folder "Books We Have Read: Master List." I have read a few off of this list (since I didn't join the book group until June, 2013) and they were excellent! Happy reading!

I have a bad sinus infection and won't be able to make it tonight. There are 2 things I HATE to miss - Salon appointments and the book club - and this week I am missing both!!! I am SO disappointed because this is such an unusual book and I'm sure the discussion will be interesting! My major thoughts on the book are: 1) I enjoyed the historical fiction aspect because that genre is one of my favorites! 2) The dark humor was well done, which could not have been easy! 3) I need to do some more reading about the artists mentioned in the book! 4) My favorite part of the book is the when Henri and Lucien are on the floor together - pages 300 and 301! Have a great time!

A smaller group, but very good conversation on both the book and many other thought-provoking topics!

Nice chatting with you all, next time gotta bring a pen and paper to write down all the other books and authors we discuss!

I know! Tonya started a page for this cause we were all interested in keeping track of this stuff. Maybe we could take turns updating this live during our meetings on a laptop or mobile device.

Great idea, Jean! Or (normally) I would be happy to do it. I actually have some recommendations from some book worms that I will add to our list this week. I have already started reading the books and/or authors you recommended to me a couple of months ago - Thanks!

Thanks Jean! I think I've seen this message too late for a ride there (thanks!), but definitely will appreciate a lift home. I've messaged you. :-)

I can't wait to see what the next book is so I can join in!
