In this lecture, literary consultant, poet and prose writer, Amy Holman will teach writers of short stories, essays, memoirs, and novels how to assess the editorial interests of presses and agents. Bring a notebook and learn how to turn it into your own personal publishing guide. Amy will read from current literary journals and small press catalogs to illustrate the differences among them. She will also teach you how to talk and write for general audience building, grant applications and query letters. There will be time for Q&A.
Amy Holman is a Pushcart Prize nominee in both the poetry and essay categories. Aside from a published poet, essayist, and teacher, she is the author of An Insider’s Guide to Creative Writing Programs: Choosing the Right MA or MFA Program, Colony, Residency, Grant, or Fellowship.
