Workshop with AMANI JABRIL

Columbia, South Carolina's own bellydancer, AMANI JABRIL, whose acclaimed performances on the international and local scene have created a buzz in the world of Middle Eastern dance.

AMANI has studied and performed extensively throughout Europe, Egypt, U.A.E., Africa, Canada and the United States. She is adept at a wide variety of dances from across the Mediterranean and Middle East and is a gifted instructor with the ability to teach a wide variety of dance styles learned from the greats of Middle Eastern and folkloric dance.

Amani Jabril Workshop $50 (4 hours) per person

Hot and Fresh: Tasty Cairo Combos - 2hrs.
Egyptian technique, styling and innovations in choreography as inspired by current trends in music; favored moves of top Middle Eastern dancers today as well as movement inspired by Amani's own time spent in the Middle East.

Pop, Shimmy and Groove: Drum Solo Essentials - 2hrs.
Combinations for this drum solo will begin with foundation or "kernels" of movement learned in "Hot and Fresh: Tasty Cairo Combos" that can be used on their own or, as in this 4 hour workshop, developed further for use in choreography. Get ready to pop, shimmy and groove your way to dance divahood!

Amani Jabril will perform at the hafla along with local, state, and out of the state performers. We are seeking bellydancers and drummers to perform. The cost to perform is $5 per performer. The General Admission is $10. Professional Vendor Admission is $30 per table. Swap meet/exchange tables are $5 per table. Swap meet/exchange tables are for bellydancers who would like to exchange or sell their gently used items. Vendors (professional or swap meet) are not allowed to share tables with other vendors. Professional vendors are asked to donate an item for the raffle.
