EarthDance invites the Urban Farm Meetup for a tour of our 14 acre farm.
EarthDance is a nonprofit educational farm, located in Ferguson MO. EarthDance offers a part-time apprenticeship in organic agriculture to train farmers and gardeners for the St. Louis region. In addition, EarthDance offers tours and youth educational opportunities, volunteer positions, workshops, internships, and occasionally artistic events celebrating the "culture" in agriculture. EarthDance's programs take place on the Mueller Organic Farm, which has been in continuous organic cultivation since 1883. It is considered Missouri's oldest organic farm. When the last farming member of the Mueller family passed, there was a significant risk that this historic property would be forgotten and lost to urban blight and decay. EarthDance's Director, Molly Rockamann, hoped to preserve the farm and to restore it to vibrant productivity. In partnership with a local land trust organization, The Open Space Council, she founded EarthDance in 2008. Her mission for EarthDance was to carry on the farm's agricultural legacy by training new organic farmers. Since 2009, EarthDance's educational programming has revitalized this site and engaged public interest in sustainably produced food.
