Cars. Besides the fuel and pollution. Needing them for everything since urban sprawl. Highways and parking lots chopped up our city. Walking is now a considered a sport rather than a part of everyday life. Didn't need a car when I lived in New York and loved it. A city built around people not cars...stepping down off my soapbox now.
Mass transit, walkable neighbohoods.
