Let's get together and review learning from 2013

  • Frank Adams and me (Brian Bryant) work at Pearson as Technical Project Managers, which really means Scrum Masters. Frank has been with Pearson for a few years, me only a few months, but we have both been involved in Agile software for many years. It would be nice to get together with others and compare notes. Frank and I can each prepare a short presentation on a relevant topic from our work this year, and I can open up the agenda to suggestions from whoever wants to attend.
What if we did a potluck lunch? We can provide a room at Pearson. I will suggest a date and put our address below.
    Thanks!
    Brian

I will not come today. (I cannot leave early enough for the snow.)

I'm not going to be able to make it because of the weather - but I'll be sure to attend the next one/reschedule. This group is great!

I will set up another meetup in January to make up for this one. For today, anyone that makes it we will have a good conversation!

    Kevin,
I will be in the office. It is hard to tell who will make it but we will go with whoever is there. The snow is still falling and I am concerned about safety and the time required for driving in this.

I'm in Provo and am willing to drive up. I vote we all drive carefully and meet as planned.

This weather is terrible. I think we should cancel for today. The driving conditions are too dangerous.

    Here is the address:
    9815 S. Monroe Street
    Sandy, UT

We are in the Sandy Park Center bldg, 4th floor

To figure out which building: On the West face up high on the building are big signs for Strayer University and Humana, on the South face is one for LifeVantage.

There is lots of covered parking on the East side and you can enter the building from either the East or West - we suggest coming around to the East side.

At the front desk just tell them you are here for the Agile Meetup with Frank and Brian.

This is a brown bag lunch but we will provide snacks, water, and sodas.

Agenda: We will kick off the discussion with a couple learnings and stories from Frank and I but our goal is to have an open forum and a casual atmosphere.

    See ya'll tomorrow!

Would love to attend a meetup of this group some time. The 19th won't work for me to drive from Park City to Sandy, but I'll keep an eye on meetups in 2014.

    Hi everyone,

One week to go. Please spread the word, invite your friends and neighbors, etc. Looking forward to meeting you!

I'm not sure I want to do a white elephant, but then I'm also not sure I want to drive up from Provo. :) I'm also happy to grab some fast food on the way but a potluck would be mucho work. We are trying to improve testing/QA in an agile world. As of this very paragraph I'm planning on coming so we can glean any bits of wisdom Y'all might have for us. :)

    See you Thursday.

    Hi everyone,

Let's keep it simple and just make this a brown bag lunch. I will get some drinks and snacks. As for white elephant...that was mostly just Frank and me joking around :-)

    See you next Thursday.

Cool idea Frank, I like it. Maybe we should say that the gifts need to be something related to your history in agile...some cool, funny, or useless artifact that will give everyone a good laugh?
