AWESOME COURSE!! Sounds like 1 injury, broken pelvis but otherwise all good. Was great to see all the usual D38 peeps but also Larry Roeseler, Craig Smith, Brad Milikin racing along with Justin Morgan out there checking out the race and doing some testing on his Zip-Ty Husky.

Dave, Lacie, Andy, Henry, and Stephen, are you guys already D38 members and camping with a club? I have not joined a club out there yet, so if you all want to camp together we'll coordinate. Let me know. If it's your first race I'll help you through everything and make it very easy.

Sorry for the late response Keith, Yes I am a D38 member, I am actually the Super Senior "M" Class Steward (50+) for D38. I am also one of the AMA D38 Competition Congressman. Along with that a Roadrunner's club member. So Hopefully I see you out there. All the clubs are very helpful and will do guest pitting if you ask and check in with them. I8 is a good group of guys and Andy/Henry will get you set up. If you need any additional help or have questions give a shout. I will be out there by 4pm Friday, doing a small ride Saturday with a couple I8 folks and then racing on sunday with you all. Looking forward to it, it should be a fun course.

Thanks, Dave. I don't know if I will make it by 4. The shop closes at 3 and then I'll head out there. May try and close early though. Depends on how things are going.

Ok everyone, here is an update on where to meet. Most of you are already with D38 clubs. Andy and Hentry are with I8 Desert racers club and have graciously offered to help us pit. So, I will be camping with them Saturday night. Andy has offered all of you to join us with the club for this weekend. I will be in a black 2010 Chevy Silverado 2500 pickup with a 2011 Attitude 27 foot pull behind toyhauler, white and red with some black. Look for bike #257. Ask for Keith when you get there, or look for the I8 desert racers club, they should have a flag up, they also pit towards then end of pit row, camp is set up close to the pits there. Cell phone is[masked] if anyone needs to call. Let's have a blast racing King of the Desert!

I plan on racing the BITD U.S. Hare scramble in Laughlin on Saturday, drive back to our local desert Saturday afternoon, then race the KOD Sunday morning. I hope I haven't bit off more than I can chew.

No worries, Jason. After a 28 year hiatus I went up and road in JV and Red Mountain and remember how much I would crash in the dust up there. When I saw the terrain at D38, I thought it much better for my 48 year old body. Those starts in D37 used to be crazy back in the day. Look forward to seeing you at a D38 race in the future.

if my bike is plated and registered in AZ, can I still race? It says something about CA land use permit required - where would I get that? And would a CRF 450x be capable of this race?

Keith. Have you done any of the district 38 races before?

    February 10, 2014

    • Ian G.

It sounds like from tntmo's link above that since my bike is registered, I don't have to worry about having the CA land permit thing. Thanks for all the help guys! My girlfriend also rides, is there a women's race too?

I can get out there earlier Saturday if you guys want to ride around a bit and check things out. I'll give more details, but I'll be in a[masked]' attitude toy hauler, red and white, with a black[masked] silverado pickup pulling it. My black Monster energy #257 will be parked outside.
