I wonder how much it would be to reserve DGM for an hour or two? Between CalGuns, SDShooting, and other online fora, I'll bet we could get a good-sized group together.

Hey Mike can you schedule this meetup again for Feb 16th on Monday? Same time and place? SD DGM 7-9pm

    Bring a variety of handguns!

Nice meeting some if you guys finally. Anyone up for clay pigeon shooting let me know I've got two 12 gauge shotguns I'd be happy to share. You'll just have to pay for the ammo and range fees. :)

It was great meeting everyone! Thanks so much for coming out. I learned a lot and was able to try out a number of different types of handguns. Sweet!!

Last minute RSVP here. Are we attempting to all get lanes next to each other? Or are we arriving at random times? Will there be name tags to distinguish us from other customers? I'm one of the Range Safety Officers at SBRG. So I know my way around a gun range.

Ok so we need to do more of these!

I might go shoot after noon, so I have fun time to shoot and relax before the meetup. Then I'll stay through the meetup to help instruct and reload magazines. So if you can't come after 7pm come before 5pm for more shooting time. Since they limit us to 1 hour of shooting after 5pm.

I would also consider asking the new range in Poway, San Diego Training Center I think its called. I stopped there to get a tour because I take boys from my church shooting and I need somewhere that allows them to continue learning how to shoot in a environment that isn't intimidating. I liked how respectful and professional they were at the Poway range, and they seem hungry (in a good way, not desperate) for new business. They even offered to give the boys and I a free gun handling seminar just to get us to come in and shoot. We may be able to work out a good deal to get exclusive use for a hour or two, I am sure they want the business exposure....

I'm ready to go! I just got a Windham Weaponry “SRC-CA” AR-15 for only $749 at turners on a pre-black Friday sale.
    (lifetime warranty from ex-Bushmaster owner/creators)
    http://www.windhamweaponry.com/pdf/NewTechSeets/SRC-CA%2012-17-12%20MSRP.pdf
I also picked up a Mossberg Tactical Persuader 12 gauge shotgun.
My friend recommend this place if you want to legally make your own weapon. They sale 80% AR-10, 1911 & AR-15 kits. They help you actually machine an 80% lower/handgun legally.

I don't think Ares helps with the machining except for selling a jig which they at currently out of. But you can very a jig elsewhere.

Had a semi-nice day at the outdoor range sighting in my new Anderson AR from DGM. After a few rounds I found I was having problems with empty shell ejecting. After trying different ammo and magazine I was starting to think it was a problem with the new rifle so I brought it back to the store. They verified the problem, fixed it and now it shoots just fine.
The DGM team is a great bunch of people for helping me so quickly. Can't wait to get back out to the range and finish sighting in and have a relaxing day of shooting.

    January 20, 2014

Depends on the day and time. I am already a member and if you are one it is free. I'm also a member at South Bay Rod and Gun Club so if any are interested in meeting out there let me know.
At Santee you can't shoot rifles that aren't pistol calibers, but you can shoot handguns there. There other location off of I-5 allows rifle calibers. See link below for limitations:

I went to Discount Gun Mart in El Cajon last night and talked to one of the men that worked there, and he didn't know they even still has a 'meetup' page. Maybe the organized, Lincoln, who is also active in NRA can set up a time we can meet at the range and shoot as a group and maybe go for coffee afterwards and get acquainted? It would be good to get tis group actually active having meetups! The range there is a handgun range. Any one interested, or has everyone given up on this group?

Is this ever going to happen?

    December 10, 2013

I was looking for a CA compliant AR15 for target shooting. Anyone know of any place to pick up one without paying more than retail. Turners offered to sell one for only $60 over retail making it $900 for a low end one but also on top of that they require you to purchase a $400 scope with it. This same AR15 could be picked up last year for under $700 on sale. But I guess this is a good deal compared to what others.
Another viable option is to buy parts & assemble one for about $700 I hear.
Should I wait for the craze & price gouging to end? I was hoping to buy a one for a reasonable price as a target shooting hobby but aside from the high price of gun also there’s a shortage & price gouging on ammunition too. Seems like a bad time for me to get into shooting. So I’m not in a rush. But if I can get started for a reasonable price I’m up for it.

    March 31, 2013

    • Dan

With supply and demand what it is Tavis that is just the going price now. Same for the ammo prices. Stinks but as I hear on the radio "that is the new normal". About the only thing I can tell you is to maybe get a lower while you can because of the political climate here in Kalifornia they are trying for a bullet button ban.

Looks like its not happening this week. I'll be busy all weekend with an IDPA match saturday and work Sunday. I'll get my test loads done and be ready for this next week. I might be shooting at South Bay Rod and Gun on Monday too. Maybe we should just try to meet someplace for food/drinks and get to know each other, I sense there might be a bit of apprehension about shooting with strangers? Tu-Thur look like the best days for me next week.
