If you can code in C/C++, you can code in any language. Moreover, you can tackle any programming problem you want. No other language can make as powerful a claim (perhaps Haskell). However, I've noticed a dearth of Meetup groups devoted to the language (even Haskell has a presence here!) and as an enterprising independent citizen who wants to refresh his own C++ skills, I've created this group, The San Francisco C/C++ Group. My thinking is that there are other people who would like to learn how to program in C++, and I'd love to be the one to help them, while brushing up on my skills at the same time. I grew up writing C/C++ - its basically my native programming language - and have only recently noticed its utter lack of usage in most SF programming shops (outside of the big Googz, which is totally not SF anyway). This is weird, since equally convoluted languages like Java & Ruby dominate the scene, despite being characteristically less efficient, more difficult to scale, and just plain more difficult to write properly in. Sure you can program something fast, but we all know projects don't end after the first demo. Please join if you're in the SF area, know C++, would like to know C++, or just otherwise are piqued.
